I've divided it up onto categories so people can more easily find what they like:

For example:
lj_refugees would go in "OTF: General."
roleplaysecrets would go in "Fandom: Roleplay."
science_fiction would go in "Fandom: Specific Genre."
fanlore would go in "Fandom: General."
Comms about Game of Thrones/ASOIAF could go in both "Fandom: Books" and "Fandom: TV."
Comms about Zutara would go in TV; Sansan would go in Books and TV like GoT/ASOIAF.

What's it for? Writers to talk about writing
Why's it awesome? Daily polls about the day's writing and discussion questions
Other comments: It seems to be geared more towards original work than fandom but I still quite like it (and count fan fic writing when answering the polls).

writethisfanfic is similar though fan fic orientated. But I find I like ficdaily's discussions more, though we need more people around for them.

What's it for? Does what it says on the tin. Daily writing prompts for fanfic and original fic. Commentfic format; fills are left in reply to the prompts. Be as long or as short as you like.

Community: rainbowfic
Fandom: Original fiction
What's it for? Pick your colour lists and work through the prompts. rainbowlounge is the associated comm for discussion.

Community: leftoverresearchquarterly
What's it for? For all those bits of research you didn't end up using but think others might find useful. Needs more activity.

What's it for? A character development-centered writing comm. It's not very busy right now, but it's a great community, especially for rpers.
