Things, in theory, you should like...

but don't.

Basically stuff that has tons of things that you love in a story, but for whatever reason you just plain don't like it.

Sherlock in any form. I like the Edgar Alan Poe prototype. I love mysteries. I love Poirot. And yet I've never been able to enjoy either the books or any of the adaptions.

Vampire Diaries. I love vampires, and there isn't really anything on this show that hits my "hell no" buttons the way Twilight does. But it didn't click with me.

Me too with The Vampire Diaries. I love vampires as well. And while I got into the first season, I had a hard time caring by the end of the second season and have dropped it altogether. It's not that I think it's bad, it's like you said, it didn't click with me.

Though I have to give it to them on the vampire make-up. The blood shot vampire eyes looks really cool.

I used to like Vampire Diaries then my interest just kind of drifted away.

Sterek comes to mind. I like the concept of snarky bright guy and stoic irritable guy, the two of them forced together by outside forces, etc- that stuff works for me but I just don't see it in canon.

Terrahawks.
Gerry Anderson! Amazing SFX! Decently written females! Cool Villian! Based Zeroids!
But the main characters a pillock, there's casual japanese racism within the first 5 minutes, an idiot character gets too much screentime, shitty pop songs inserted into every episodes, stupid humour and even the creator hates it.
Fuck.

Farscape. It always sounds like my kind of show, so I feel like I should love it, but I lost steam partway through the first season. It just failed to interest me.

Charlie Kaufman movies

Everyone who knows me, knows that I love surreal, strange and off the wall movies. (I'll be the one up in 3 am watching a Troma movie marathon.) But I can't stand Kaufman movies. I can't stand the characters, the plots and the dialog. It's like he's trying too hard to be quirky and eccentric. I watch his movies and I don't see a movie, I see a writer who is throwing as much weird stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

agents of s.h.i.e.l.d. spies that deal with a superhero universe and awesome super advanced technology? i should be hanging on the edge of my seat, but i just find it boring. well, at least i'm not the only one.

fringe. it's no secret that i love the shit out of lost, and i'm quite the sci-fi fan, but it feels too rushed, like they crammed every bit of mythology they could in the beginning. also i don't love the characters as much as i loved the characters of lost (must be the lack of michael emerson).

the walking dead. loved the first season, but then i just gradually stopped caring. now the only feeling i have about it is "meh".

ABO verse. I love good mpreg. I like good bonding fics. I prefer fics with more equal relationships, but I do like the occasional uke/seme type fic. I like tropey fics where one character sweeps the other off their feet and is more dominant and the other is shy and more submissive.

But I cannot stand the near exhibitionism in most ABO fic. People going into heat and running around out of their minds making fools of themselves in public, everyone being able to smell it or hear it. Just...no. So much squirmy secondhand embarrassment.

I keep trying it though, but I always end up skimming/skipping past big chunks of it or backbuttoning.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, I've seen it twice now and I still don't see why people love it, it is an okay film, I just don't find it as awesome as others seem to...

Supernatural. Just looking at the basic premise, it's like a laundry list of things I love. Main characters are monster hunters on a never-ending road trip to fight the forces of evil? Yes, good. Lots of weird mythological shit going on? Great. There are angels involved? Wonderful. Classic rock soundtrack? FUCK YES! The execution, though... yuck. And any desire I might have had to give the show a second chance was killed by the fandom.

Game of Thrones. I like fantasy so I expected it would be right up my alley but I watched all of season one and it just didn't hold my interest enough for me to bother continuing.

Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler. There are a lot of people in my other fandoms who like this series and I feel like I should like it too, but I found it terribly boring and I dislike pretty much the entire cast. (Now, the second season of the anime, the one all the actual fans of the series hate? That I liked.)

Almost Human.

I love police procedurals and buddy cops. I really love robots and human/robot friendships. And Dorian's adorable. It has everything going for it and I tried for five episodes and it just failed to grab me, which is a shame.

(I think maybe it glossed over the ethical dilemmas with AIs and human-like robots too much? I dunno, but if it had a storyline that really tackled those themes directly I might start watching again.)

Sleepy Hollow. I just couldn't get into it, for some reason.

I dislike Into the Woods.

I don't know why. It's a musical, it's a non-stop parody machine, it's full of dirty hilarious things. In theory I should love the hell out of it.

But I think it's the lamest, stupidest, most boring snoozefest of a musical ever and for a parody, takes itself way too seriously.

I love aliens, Alien Nation, lazy alien makeup, Shakespeare, clunky racism metaphors, and schmoopy teenage angstlove, so I should have been all over Star-Crossed like jam on toast. But I couldn't get into it. I don't think it's any cheesier than lots of other things I like -- it just didn't do it for me.

People keep telling me I should love X-Files because I love other sci-fi shows from the 90s. But I don't love it. That's less surprising, because it isn't actually that similar to the things I like.

Doctor Who.
Seriously - genre, style, premise and everything are right up my ally. Every time I've tried to get into it was just NOPE NOPE NOPE all the way to the point where I had to force myself to finish the episode for the good of the experiment.

Arrested Development. This is EXACTLY the type of thing that appeals to me, my type of humor, and yet I found it mildly entertaining but not hilarious.

Also Jane Austen.

Harry Potter. I love fantasy and British stuff in general but Harry Potter doesn't do it for me at all.
