They're not exactly a crack ship and people who do see something between them aren't trolling everybody else and are hardly delusional.

Sorry, but I'm sick of people saying the fandom made them expect more from this ship and that "there's nothing there!"

1) Crack ship is a broad term and in my definition it is one.
2) People who think it's canon are delusional and that's who I was referring to. I have seen people who ship it go into full analyzation of 5 seconds as "proof" of their relationship. I casually ship it too but you have to admit there are some seriously delusional Sterek fans in the fandom. Period.

I didn't get into Teen Wolf for that reason. So I don't really care. You're not upsetting me. I got into it because my friend Nef said it was a shitty show I would love watching with her. She was right.

Like, seriously, I've seen them talk about how Stiles looking up at Derek in a certain way while Derek was shoving him up against a wall proved that they were into each other.

NO NO NO, YOU'RE DELUDEEEEEED! Did you not see the comparision of all the shoves made on the show and how Stiles got the best one? You're wrooooong!

DID YOU NOT SEE THE HURT IN DEREK'S EYES WHEN STILES REJECTS HIM?! LOVE.

It's funny--I have never seen this kind of shipper in the few fandoms I've really hung out in, but I know exactly what you mean because I've seen them on Tumblr shipping the sisters from Frozen with each other. I guess it was too much to hope that that sort of insanity was confined to Frozen.

(I've also seen accounts of this type shipping Kirk with Spock, but let's face it, Kirk and Spock pretty much had that sort of relationship even if they weren't banging each other.)

I saw 'em back on LJ when it was the hot thing but they're definitely more visible now on tumblr. They tend to only come from big fandoms. (Not always but it's more likely.)

Just be happy they're not in yours? I would be.

(Well, they do have more to go on than Sterek.)

K/S: Except that a romance isn't canon, although some of their beloved shippers will insist that it is.

It seems that this is a phenom that occurs all over the place. I wonder what causes this. Does the relationship being canon make it a more valid fan ship?

I'm usually able to let this stuff not bother me, but I see this reaction so often and I momentarily saw red. I'm not even angry, just resigned.

Haha, yeah, that got me into trouble/discussions a few times already. Because my definition is a lot different - examples for what I consider crack ships are Harry/Hogwarts, Snape/Giant Squid, or Stiles/his Jeep.

It would never occur to me to call Sterek a crack ship, because they are two actual characters on the same show who do sometimes interact with each other.

Eh, I don't really consider this trouble. Once I explained my view everyone was like, "Oh, okay." Because everyone really does use the term to mean completely different things all the time. Heck, I've seen people call Destiel a crack ship and that's not something that would fit my definition. I haven't really ever seen a conversation about it where a group of people were all using it the same way. It's like the term Mary Sue. Everyone's got a different definition.

I understand why you'd feel that way. And I don't think anyone that ships anything is delusional, because...the point of shipping is to smush two people together, so, whatever.

But, as someone that gave TW a shot because of all the shouting about Sterek Moments and Feelings and this and that, I gotta say. For me, there really wasn't anything. And I went in looking for it. I would consider it a crack ship, and that is okay! I love crack ships!

Like I just told jester, I stay away from the Tumblr side of fandom because there *are* people there that think sterek is canon and make it out to be more than it is. I feel bad for people who start watching cause they think it's a huge canon ship full of moments.

Sterek is not a crack ship. Definitely not. I can see the appeal of why people like it. It has basis for people to ship it. But that has nothing to do with something being "between" them in the canon. You can literally say that about any pair of people who interact if you look really hard. You like a pair because they would be hot, or you like how they interact/their personalities would go together in a hypothetical romance. But that has nothing to do with canon because it's in your head/fanon.

When I talk about seeing something between them I mean chemistry. I think the actors have tons of chemistry and that translates to the characters having good interactions. I don't think they're canon or ever will be but I enjoy their scenes and translate that to romantic chemistry for fic purposes.

Oh, sorry for kinda misunderstanding! That makes sense.

"translate that to romantic chemistry" is a really good definition of shipping. It's not there romantically in the actual canons, but it's easy to translate. Haha
