We prune diseased limbs of trees and pull up weeds, might as well do the same for perdophiles, Bec ause they are putrid, poisonous bits of "humanity."

Evidence is increasing that they may very well be mentally ill, so I'd rather we were less about exterminating and punishing them. That hasn't worked out well the last few times we tried it. I think society should work harder at finding a treatment rather than anything else.

I'm down with humane treatment of even the worst criminals. I am not a proponent of rape-punishments or forced genital mutilation. This may come as quite a shock, but I also live in the year 2014.

And also, since the evidence is getting stronger that having pedophile urges might be a mental illness: prevention of crimes by educating people, and by making it possible for pedophiles who discovers these urges to get help *before* they find a victim and act on those urges should be the thing to go for.

Here in Germany, there is a help line for pedophiles to get treatment (psycho therapy, hormone treatment...) to prevent them from committing a crime and ruining some child's life.

Punish someone if they committed a crime? Yes. But prevent the crime before it happens and save two lives? Double yes.

Pedophile=/=Child molester. Plenty of pedos don't believe in going after children.

A pedophile is someone who is attracted to children. Pedophiles can recognize that this is wrong and choose not to go after the children that they're attracted to, thus avoiding becoming child molesters.

Yes this, plenty of people live with it and seek treatment and never touch a child because they know its wrong but can't help that their brain is wired wrong.

But not all pedophiles are child molesters...

And not all child molestors are men. What do you do with the women?
