He looks really smarmy in that picture.

I focused on him first, and for a second thought it was Petyr Baelish. It's the smug smile.

...huh. That is accurate.

I hope that Regina finds out that Marian would have died naturally had she not tried to have her executed, and it's her own damn fault for losing her love, because of her own fucked up choices. =D

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
bASICALLY, YEAH. She needs to realize that it's her OWN fucked up choices (and her inability to forgive) that keep wrecking her life. She needs to stop seeing herself as a victim and take some fucking responsibility. A great start would be to let the happy little family be happy together and move on.

holy crap, who is this? is he an important character? i stopped watching this show after the season 2 finale (nothing against it, i just wasn't that invested in it) but i might watch season 3 if he gets a lot of screentime, because damn, he's hot.

Robin Hood, he's pretty big this season.

I really don't feel like I can root for a relationship that's only possible because Regina killed his wife the first time through.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
yup.

I was having the same sort of reaction at the end of the episode. We saw Marion ill, so at first I thought maybe she had a relapse and Robin was unable to help her get better... but then we find out, nope- her death was handed down by Regina herself.

I'm all for having the characters change, grow and find redemption, but there is *no way* Robin didn't know it was Regina that killed Marion. I might buy reluctant forgiveness, but deciding to jump in to a relationship? No way.

To be honest, I didn't see the hairstyle when Tink showed Regina her true love in the tavern, and I thought it was a Red Herring the first time they showed Robing with the tattoo- on the grounds that it looks like an emblem (for King Richard or similar?) that many people might have.

"but there is *no way* Robin didn't know it was Regina that killed Marion"

Can you explain, please? I keep seeing this argument.

I think the only canon/prospective canon relationship that I'm still rooting for at this stage is Snow/Charming, because they're adorable and awesome and more-or-less functional. Pretty much every other major relationship on the show has something ugly in its history (Rumple/Belle, Hook/Emma, Regina/Robin). Possibly because most of them involve reformed/semi-reformed/trying-to-reform villains, but still.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I don't like the majority of the ships in the show because they always seem to end up dragging one character down, especially since they can't decide whether or not they really want to reform the villains and keep having them go back to their old ways. Which wouldn't be a problem but then I end up wondering things like "Why would Belle deal with this? Why does she even believe Rumple is a good person?"

I love a good villain but OUAT needs to stop giving them true loves, I wouldn't mind some romances that the show acknowledges are screwed up, but love? Nah.

I hate that the writers changed Marian's ending to have Regina be the one who killed her. There was no reason to do that and it is going to make the eventual Robin/Regina endgame awkward. But I still ship. They were just too adorable.

I agree. And I can't be on Regina's side against Emma or root Regina on for bitching Emma out for not thinking of consequences. She killed Marion because she helped Snow. STFU Regina.

I would like that too, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high yet.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm more invested in Robin/Regina than I thought I would be, so I kind of agree. As for how they came to be...the past is the past. You can't change it (except for when you can, apparently), all you can do is move on from it.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
No. Just....no. No. Robin tosses aside his lost love in favor of the woman who was going to murder her? No. I'll admit Lana Parilla and Sean Maguire have some amazing chemistry, but I don't know that I could get past that. I already think this Robin/Regina thing has been forced for the beginning.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
*FROM the beginning I mean, not for.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
They're most likely going to kill Marian off just like they did with Neal. Which actually pisses me off because the Outlaw Family reunion was one of the sweetest things I've seen from the show in ages, and I hate that it's going to end again. Because, of course, it has to so the child murdering rapist can get her happy ending.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ouat is way too much about 'true love' and I'd like to see them rock the boat with maybe someone moving on from their true love because of circumstance and time and changing as a person. Plus it'd be stupid for Regina to go all 'evil' again because her heart was broken.

On the other hand I'm really enjoying the Regina is reaping what she sowed. You can't kill people for petty reasons and get off scot-free. (Though apparently Rumple does.)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-23 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
The only thing that really phases Rumpelstiltskin is his loved ones' disapproval. The murders he committed when he first became the Dark One (Hordor's soldiers, the poor mute maid, the man with the cart) all helped drive Baelfire to the point where he sought help from the Blue Fairy, so those paved the way for Rumpelstiltskin to lose Bae.

Milah's murder set Hook after him and meant Hook sold Bae to Pan and tried to kill Belle three times. I would have liked Belle to flip out a little more that Rumpelstiltskin murdered his wife, jfc, but apparently characters are only allowed to react to shit as the plot demands, rather than the other way around, and the writers didn't have time for Belle to react like a human rather than a Stepford robot.

I'd say arranging for Cora's death, killing Tamara, and killing Zelena were all, if not justified, at least understandable in a way the other murders weren't. Cora was all set to become the new Dark One, and judging by her priorities even before she learned magic or ripped out her heart, she would have been even more a monster than Rumpelstiltskin, Regina, or even Zelena ever were.

He and Tamara both thought she'd killed his son. Zelena set up either Neal or Belle to die (in a truly OOC, Neal was genre savvy enough not to open the creepy vault because he's probably seen The Mummy/Indiana Jones kind of way), and then gloated when Neal died, as well as holding Rumpelstiltskin, and his free will, prisoner for almost a year. When everyone, especially Belle, finds out about Zelena (and they all will, this is OUAT, contrived drama drives the whole damn soap opera) he's definitely going to suffer.

I'd say the only murder he's gotten away clean with is Gaston. And my headcanon is that Rumpelstiltskin rooted the bit of stem Belle snipped off and he's now quite a handsome climbing rose in the gardens. Not because I don't believe Rumpelstiltskin is a murdering bastard. He totally is. But a) it'd be funny. And b) Robin McKinley's Rose Daughter.
