honestly, while i don't think he's the most boring character or anything, he does have an obnoxious fanbase

i liked the movie but i won't touch the fandom because bucky was my least favorite character (mainly because the film kept telling me to like him)

i'll just keep reading steve/sam fics and leave all the kudos!

Enthusiastic fans of any character you don't like will always seem obnoxious to you. Fandom in general is obnoxious as fuck, it's just a matter of whether you're being obnoxious about the same thing or not.

Holy hyperbole. The least interesting character in the entire Marvel universe? Maybe you haven't read much, because there are tons of crappier characters, OP. Do you know Locust or Stilt-Man? The Upstarts? I could go on for hours.

In which case while he's not THE most boring, I really do think he's rather uninteresting.

And yeah his fans are second only to Loki fans in levels of obnoxiousness.

Bucky fans are miles better than Loki "he's just MISUNDERSTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNND" fans.

Give me people flailing over Bucky's - valid - angst over idiots who are blinded by the pretty boy any day.

That said, I understand. Any over-saturation can be annoying if you're not part of it.

(This said by a huge fan of the character who will cry if Cap 3 doesn't have a happy ending.)

I don't like comic!Bucky so much(and I vastly prefer him when he comes back as the Winter Solider, sorry Bucky!), but I really like his MCU counterpart, probably because I can't stand sidekicks so making him Steve's best friend worked much better for me. And I'm interested to see what they do with him in later films.

But different strokes and all that.

IDGI. His fanbase is loud and enthusiastic, which, yeah, is sometimes annoying if he's not your favorite thing about the Cap movies, but they haven't really done anything besides like something you don't care for. Whereas Loki stans, on the other hand...

(I will admit to feeling a bit resentful towards comics!Bucky, but mostly because his status as Brubaker's favorite woobie meant boring angst drawn out waaaaay past the point where it served any narrative purpose. But YMMV, and writing issues in canon is a different kettle of fish from an enthusiastic fanbase.)

Tbh, the fandom acting like you can never dislike Bucky without being a troll is starting to make me hate him. When fandoms act like you can never hate their fave without being a horrible person, it puts me off the character (A lot of this is probably because he is male. If he was a female character, nobody would like the fact that the character is defined by victimhood in fandom).
