I just got into this fandom (still working through S1) but was surprised that like 90% of the fics on Ao3 are Oliver/Felicity, which is why I made the secret. Granted,, Smoak is a cutie and she has nice chemistry with the rest of the cast, but I guess I expected to find a ton of slash: Oli/Dig, Oli/Tommy, Oli/Fei, etc etc, based on how friendship/partnership in MCU (not to mention a ton of other shows) seem to get translated into slash. Not to mention the Foe Yay possibilities that could be dragged out of Oli/Deathstroke, Oli/Malcom, Oli/Fyers.

Again - I'm not interested in m/m for the show, I was just admitting that I expected to find it.

There's a little, but surprisingly not as much as you might think. I just checked AO3 and there's 37 fics tagged Sara/Nyssa out of over 2400 Arrow fics. None of the m/m couples are much better. This fandom is pretty much all Olicity all the time.

i'm not in the arrow fandom, but i was pleasantly surprised at the quantity of fargo slash on ao3, considering it's a somewhat obscure show (it's constantly praised but it seems most people have no idea it exists). i have my fix of mr.numbers/mr.wrench and i couldn't be happier :D (also there needs to be fic about the two fbi guys, they were hilarious this week)

Yeah, it's kind of all Olicity, all the time. Most of the "slash" is M/M/F.

I've read couple of fics in Arrow and I don't think it's especially terrible. Arrow is a small fandom where het's more popular then slash, that's just it

Yeah not complaining, just surprised. Haven't finished S1 yes, so I don't know what dynamics I might not have seen yet. (I was a little surprised that there's so very little Oli/Laurel, but then if that's sort of more canon then I get it: fanfic is mroe for non-canon ships.)

That's because Olicity has kind of taken over the fandom. I just got into Arrow (I'm almost done with Season 1) but all I knew about the show/fandom beforehand was Oliver/Felicity.

(that said I love Felicity so I'm cool with that).

This fandom is disappointing for a lot of reasons. Somehow, even without a lot of slash, they still manage to be one of the most misogynistic fandoms I have ever been a part of. And I was a part of the SPN fandom.

Because they don't like Laurel? Or something else? Because I've gotten the impression that every other woman on the show is loved. Felicity, Sara, Moira, Shado, Thea...

Where on earth are you getting that? If anything, the female characters (apart from Laurel, who's never been given a decent storyline) are way more popular than even Oliver, the main character.

i don't watch this show and i knew from what was making its way to my dash during the first season that this was not a field where slash seeds would thrive.

maybe it's because i'm almost a fandom grandma and i've developed a sense for these things, but like. main/core cast seems to be a trio. cute blonde tech girl genius seems to have a lot of screen time and involvement with the hero. completing the trio is a black guy. main antagonist no lex luthor in prominence.

fandom radar pinging het. eta: also, it's a cw show. i expect cw shows to swing het 9 times out of 10.

Yeah, I see a lot of people that try to compare Arrow fandom to Smallville fandom, but for all the talk about how Clark/Chloe/Lois compares to Oliver/Felicity/Laurel, there's no equivalent in Arrow fandom to what Clex was.
