No. Spreading misinformation and rumors about the victims before we know anything about them in the name of your political movement is the opposite of helpful. See: "the UCSB shooter killed seven women because of misogyny!"

He killed four men, two women and himself. Nice job erasing the victims for your politics.

Clearly we have different ideas on what it means to make a political issue of things. Because what you describe is not at all what I'm talking about.

I don't mind people acknowledging why it happened, or the genuinely political issues surrounding the shooting, but I am hoping that people will wait until we have some goddamn facts before turning it into a political circlejerk.

He only killed three of those men because they were his roommates and he didn't want them interfering with his mass killing plans. Also, the number of female victims would have been WAY higher if the sorority house he went to, planning to kill all the sisters, had let him in instead of keeping the door shut when he arrived. There's also the part where he wrote a huge long manifesto about how women were the root of all evil because they wouldn't have sex with him and if he was going to kill men it was because they were getting to have sex with the women. So yes, hatred of women, i.e. misogyny, WAS his stated reason. You might want to check your facts a little bit. Obviously it's stupid to invent false victim numbers, but even so.

And yeah, so what if his planned kill was higher, he didn't succeed, and we can all be grateful for that while acknowledging the victims he did kill, instead of erasing them.

You're reading a sentiment that I'm pretty sure ibbity didn't intend. They weren't saying the men's deaths meant less, they were saying the men probably wouldn't have died if they weren't his roommates. They died because they were roommates. Whereas, the women he targeted were targeted...because they were women.

And when your conversation is about murder and misogyny, the women are going to enter into it more than the men. Sorry to, like, burst your bubble on the way topical conversations work.

Where did I say that the male victims deaths meant less? I didn't. My point was that the male victims were killed for a very different reason than the female victims, and the motive behind his killing the female victims was his MAIN motive. The male victims' deaths aren't any less tragic, but he didn't kill them because he had a deep-seated grudge against them for not sexing him. He killed them so that they wouldn't get in the way of his killing all the women he intended to kill (and torture) for not sexing him. Learn to context yo.

You noticed how no one question the anti Semite intentions of the Synagogue Shooter, even though a few people murdered weren't Jewish? In Mr. MRA's case, it might have something to do with the 130 page manifesto that talked about how he was going to kill a bunch of women for not sleeping with him.

I just can't imagine why women would think that murder has anything to do with misogyny. *fans delicate self*

It's not the idea that there was misogyny behind his actions that pissed me off, it was the "he killed seven women" part. It was the "I don't give two shits about the actual victims because I don't know the story yet and this fits my narrative" part.

Also, that manifesto contained a shit ton of racism in it to, why aren't people pointing that out?

Probably because while he was racist, it was mostly just another reason for him to hate women. "Black people are inferior to me, yet women fuck them! I will take my revenge on women!" blahblah.

Just because you want to call him an MRA doesn't mean he is one.

MRA's are characterized, in part, by demeaning women because they won't sleep with them. I'd say murdering some women because they won't sleep with you fits the bill.

Which synagogue shooter? (The fact that this even has to be a question is sad.) With the one in Kansas, uh, actually, yeah. Authorities were hemming and hawing forever over whether it was antisemitism or not.

I know you're trolling, but lolno. The only reason he killed his roommates is because he was planning on making his apartment a 'killing room'. He planned to lure women to his apartment somehow and torture them to death. He also planned to shoot up an all female sorority, but didn't get to because they didn't open the door for him. To say his shooting spree wasn't because he hated women ignores his huge "HI IM DOING THIS BECAUSE OF WOMEN FUCKING SLUTS" manifesto.

He also bitched about wanting a physical revolution against feminism on pua-hate, so yeah.

And yet the people that didn't get killed are more important than the men who did. Funny that.

Except you're ignoring the big flashing red sign. They were killed BECAUSE he hated women. They were killed during his perceived 'retribution' towards women. I hate the train of thought that misogyny only effects women, because it doesn't. It effects men as well. He didn't just want to kill people, he wanted to kill women and the men who got to have sex with them. The root of all this was his misogyny.

Also, way to go completely erasing the shooter's motives and intentions to make it seem like he's "just another crazy dude". Also, you want to talk about misinformation? He was NEVER diagnosed with ASD. It was just his mother claiming he had aspergers. He was seeing a ton of shrinks and not one of them diagnosed him. They did give him medication for Schizophrenia/Bipolar though. So the "he did it because he was autistic!" line of thinking is stupid.

No, six people died. Rodgers shot and wounded 13 more people, which included more women. And it's hard to ignore a 140 page manifesto dedicated to the hatred of women. Not to mention the people coming out of the woodwork in support of Elliot Rodgers.

Politics gets involved when people start looking at the primary cause of the action. Nobody other than a few tumblr assholes are erasing the victims by looking at why the incident happened in the first place.

Honest question, how many people here have read the entire manfesto and know all of the victim's names and relationship to the shooter?

Because that should be the bare miminum before you start using victims as a mouthpiece.
