I've got you beat, I'm well over eighteen now and still have no interest if it's just smut. Sometimes I even skip over sex scenes in non-smut stuff. Fictional sex just doesn't interest me all that much.

Nah, there are some people out there who are OCD about age limits. Me, I didn't watch PG13 movies until I was 13. I did read mature fic before I was 18 but it was accidental...I hadn't figured out what various warnings meant at that point in time. >>

I did too tbh...I think I read one nonsmutty 'mature' fic when I was sixteen and I felt super guilty for it. Otherwise I just waited, bc I guess I just always follow rules? i dunno haha

It probably also depends on your upbringing.

My parents didn't even give a shit about my watching PG-13 and R stuff at 7 and 8 (unless it had nudity in it), so age-based ratings have never meant much of anything to me.

High five anon! I read my first pg-18 fic when I was 19 or twenty and just started reading smut regularly until I was almost thirty.

I'm convinced I did the right thing, because I was not mature enough to understand a lot of things I do now.

Considering I started reading things like Stephen King and Anne Rice at eleven, it wouldn't have even occurred to me to wait until I was eighteen to read something online when there were no ~legal~ restrictions for me to read real books. It just seemed like a weird thing to even try and enforce.
