Thanks for screaming at everyone to watch a movie by bashing another one I enjoyed. I know you're mad that PR is more popular (and are we really doing this SJW competition thing? Really? "It's got white people but my female lead is better than PR's so it's 100 times better!"). You can spend more money on your PERFECTEST PERFECT FEMINIST SLAYING WARRIOR QUEEN, to make up for the money I will never spend on it.

How about you calm the fuck down and stop being a whiny little bitch about movies?

Yeah, I've heard good things about Edge of Tomorrow, and yet, it has Tom Cruise. So I just can't. Maybe when it hits NetFlix.

I know. There's a lot about EoT that intrigues me, and yet....Tom Cruise. :(

No, that's the thing; Tom Cruise makes this movie WORK. At the beginning Tom's character is a deplorable douchebag and boy howdy does Tom sell it. But then character development happens and you actually believe that he's become likeable.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-25 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I am fully willing to admit that Cruise can be a hella fine actor (even though I couldn't remember the last time I saw a good film he was in before... EoT), but I can also understand how people might still turn away from a movie due to the Cruise Factor. The man is vile.

This. I refuse to see anything by Mr. Scientology who's whole solution to post - partum depression is "just take a vitamin." Sorry, I can't seperate the actor from his work on this one.

NOT MY BEST PLAN.

BUT IF IT CONVINCES 1 PERSON MY WORK HERE IS DONE.

LOOK AT THAT CONVINCING.

Speaking of POC rep, while I think EoT was a very fine movie that everyone should watch if they can suppress their revulsion for Tom Cruise long enough, I've been wondering if it would start getting flack in SJW corners. You know, for being an adaptation that replaces the Japanese lead character from the book with, well, Tom Cruise. Any of that going on? Or is the movie really too irrelevant for anyone to work up the effort?

An aside: I think Pacific Rim, while inferior in terms of writing and characterization, has more replay value. I don't know if I'd want to see EoT again; I was pretty satisfied with my time in the theater. But goddamn, sometimes you just want to load up that Robot vs Kaiju fight and relive the spectacle of it all.

Tom Cruise is a black hole that sort of swollows up all other issues surrounding his life and work, including anything the SJWs might have a problem with.

BOO HOO HOOOOOOOOOOO

WHY WOULD I CARE ABOUT YOU.

I CARE ABOUT THE OP WHO WAS LET DOWN BY MAKO MORI, WHO WAS INDICATIVE OF ALL THE FLAT STOCK CHARACTERS IN PACIFIC RIM. YOU KNOW. THE GAPING WEAKNESS OF THAT ENTIRE MOVIE???

Re: THAT'S ALL GREAT BUT SEE EDGE OF TOMORROW

(Anonymous) 2014-06-25 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
It has Tom Cruise.

No movie is great enough to convince me to watch Tom Cruise.

Sorry, shouty person.

Yep, this. I have no money to spend on yet another several hours long Scientology commercial.

Re: THAT'S ALL GREAT BUT SEE EDGE OF TOMORROW

(Anonymous) 2014-06-25 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, of course, everything he is in is about Scientology. Obviously. Nothing he is in could possibly be about anything else, because he is not an actor.

Re: THAT'S ALL GREAT BUT SEE EDGE OF TOMORROW

(Anonymous) 2014-06-25 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If you honestly think that a lot of his movies didn't have some Scientology propaganda shoehorned into it, you are really cute.
