You're Happy-Place media

Yo. I need cheering up. What do you watch, read, play, or other that is both 1. Good and 2. Does not have a miserably depressing ending.

Protip: I just watched Odd Thomas on Netflix. Very very good film with an ending that has left me on the verge of tears. Sick of finishing Movies, Games (last game I played was Watch_Dogs), Books (Last book was the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Comics (Last comic was Y The Last Man which I finished monday... I might be cursed right now).

P.G. Wodehouse, either the stories or watching the Jeeves and Wooster TV adaptation. It's all over the top silliness, funny slang, and if you're watching the shows, Hugh Laurie playing his best upper class twit and Stephen Fry generally being awesome.

We Love Katamari!! Possibly the happiest game ever. :D Difficult to play on the fly though (unless you already own it).

I don't vouch for quality, since that's totally subjective all I can really say is that I really enjoy this, but when I'm down, I like to read W-Juliet by Emura. It's a fluffy true love conquers all problems (and so does hard work!) manga about a boy who dresses as a girl (for plot reasons) and a girl that people mistake for a boy who fall in love and want to be actors. It's cute, silly, and even when things are terrible, they all work out for the best within a couple of chapters at most.

Humor is really subjective, but some of the things that have made me laugh hard enough to forget I was down are (in no particular order): Archer, Bob's Burgers, A Bit of Fry and Laurie (S1-3), My Name is Earl (S1&2?), Key&Peele, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23.

Also, for some reason anything where "bad guys" get a non-violent comeuppance always lifts my spirits. Two old shows for this are The Pretender and the old Mission Impossible series.

Also ... the 6 ep OVA of Magic User's Club. It's sweet and silly and the fanservice isn't too OTT.

Scrubs. Helped me through the worst depressive period of my life.

Even when it's a sad ending, the next episode usually makes it all better.

So I watch <a href-"http://ah.roosterteeth.com/archive/?sid=ragequit">Rage Quit</a> for low-brow humour about a guy getting mad about sucking at video games, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/BuzzFeedVideo">BuzzFeed</a>'s videos (and those on the yellow channel) are kind of adorable whenever the cast is trying ridiculous things. Oh, and Super Jail, but I don't know if that counts as depressing because of the flying viscera.

One word: musicals.

Well, some don't have happy endings, but I love the songs and they make me happy.

The Producers always makes my laugh so hard my belly hurts (it basically makes fun of Nazis in a way that really appeals to me.

Wodehouse, as mentioned above, for books. And also Terry Pratchett, and Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart, and GK Chesterton. Chesterton always cheers me up.

For TV and movies... Newsradio is probably my go-to cheerful TV series. It's really funny and it has a great ensemble cast. And even when it gets dark, it's still pretty cheerful. For movies, mostly adventure movies. Big Trouble In Little China, Indiana Jones, Princess Bride, all that kind othing.

"Pushing Daisies" is really fluffy and filled with sugary goodness. It's my go-to when I want a pick-me-up.

Dungeons of Dredmor.

1. You get both bullet-studded belts and Michael Jackson's glove as armor drops.
2. Monster zoo!
3. Mustache golem! Thrusty! Murdering mole-penguins!
4. You'll die a dozen times in your first hour, and die laughing.

God, now that I'm actually trying to think of stuff I like with happy endings I'm realizing how much depressing stuff I watch/read/play. Uhhhhhhhhh.

Uncharted (all of them), Bayonetta (though it's bizarre and ridiculous as fuck, so I guess YMMV even though it's happy and I love it), Portal & Portal 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (if you play light-side, anyway), The Adventures of Tintin, The Road to El Dorado, Mulan, Legend of the Seeker...

The Fast and the Furious films used to be this for me (especially the first film), but...probably not anymore.

The only two movies I rewatch over and over are Hot To Train Your Dragon and The Avengers. I just love 'em to bits.

For TV shows, Star Trek: The Next Generation is one of my all-time favorites. Also, I would like to plug Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! since you mentioned Netflix and that's where I found it. It's a 2-season cartoon with great characters, fun and interesting plotlines, and tons of cameos. I love it so much.

As for video games, my absolute favorite is Katamari Damacy, but you might have trouble getting ahold of a PS2 and a copy of the game.

I'm a sad and pathetic person who is mostly housebound (until they find the source of my frequent dizzy spells and treat them and I can get my driver's license back, at any rate) and I have a tendency to "collect" comfort-food media in order to distract myself, so this is going to be kind of absurdly, embarrassingly long.

Live-action TV:
Scrubs
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (my favorite eps are Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Soultaker, Werewolf, Space Mutiny and Final Sacrifice. Rowsdoooower saves us, and saves all the woooorld.)
Shark
Leverage
Star Trek (TOS, TNG and Voyager, but I plan to start on DS9 soon)
Mythbusters
The Tenth Kingdom

Animated TV:
Azumanga Daioh
Chi's Sweet Home
Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Adventure Time
Hellsing OVA
Cowboy Bebop

Movies:
Addams Family/Values
Get Smart
Spirited Away
The Cat Returns
All Dogs Go To Heaven
Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical
Robin Hood: Men In Tights
Dragon Hunters
Eulogy
The original Star Wars trilogy
Basically any MCU movie from Iron Man on.
Black Beauty

Books:
Witches Abroad
Lords and Ladies
Jingo
Night Watch
The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents
The Parasol Protectorate
Meg Cabot's Mediator series
Basically anything by Jim C. Hines (except Snow Queen's Shadow because that book ripped my heart out, stomped on it, froze it solid and smashed it into a million billion pieces on the pavement. Twice.)
The Saddle Club books (aah, sweet horsey nostalgia)
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal
The Mindjack Trilogy
Harry Potter
Runaways
Sailormoon
Ace Attorney/Investigations manga
Name a horse-themed book/series for kids and young adults and I have probably read it a dozen times and loved it, even the ones like The Short Stirrup Club series, which are hilariously stupid and endlessly entertaining in their awfulness.

Games:
Pokemon (main series and Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky)
Kingdom Hearts (I'm a dork and love all of them)
Katamari Forever
Final Fantasy XII
Sly Cooper 2 and 4
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Skyrim
Ace Attorney 1-3
Mario Kart
Harvest Moon
Project Eden
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division

The Golden Girls--I had to be out of school for a long time as a teenager recovering from surgeries (nothing serious at all, mind you, just annoying) and that was what I watched every morning because it aired just when I woke up at 11 or so. It's still really funny stuff, and it was pretty groundbreaking.

Also Chef Ramsay's shows--partly because watching him yell and cuss is funny (that's why I started watching) and partly because it's really cool to watch him try to share his enthusiasm, especially in The F-Word or the British Kitchen Nightmares.

And Top Gear, and any of James May's solo shows. I know jack about cars and I can't even drive, but they're so excited about this stuff that I really want to know how it works and what they have to say about it. And James May is just a delight to watch because HE'S SO EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING (even if his voice is kind of flat he's very interested in science and technology and toys and art and music and EVERYTHING).

Star Wars original trilogy, mostly ANH and ROTJ. Most episodes of Cosmos. Good Omens. Usually Pokemon (NOT A NUZLOCKE RUN).
