My favourite characters are Piper, Watson, Yoga Jones, Poussey and Suzanne (when she isn't under Vee's influence, of course). I hated Tucky last year, but I think she was pretty interesting this season. And Pornstache is someone I really, really love to hate. I'm fond of Brook too, she's hysterical.

Okay, I laughed, but that actually is a point. A hawklike/eaglelike/aquiline/roman nose is supposed to have a prominent bridge, and some of the Sidney Paget illustrations are rather straight.

I had the exact same thought, OP.
Btw, Rathbone has the same nose as on these illustrations. Richardson has a more aquiline nose, more similar to description, imo.
The artist knew Doyle, so maybe this was the author's vision. I mean, the hawk likeness can't be absolute, or it'd be a beak.

Paget based the face his brother-in-law's (I read somewhere), but you would think that Doyle would have had some influence if he'd thought it was totally wrong.

Since the stories were so popular, I'm sure he had a say? That's why I think this interpretation is not far from what Doyle intended.

I honestly don't know, but it's not guaranteed. Insanely popular authors now usually don't get a say on their cover art.

Anyway, I agree with you, OP, mostly because aquiline/hooked/hawk/whatever noses are my absolute favorite, and more pictures of Holmes drawn accurately means more pictures for me to swoon over.

I'm glad they all draw him with stright noses (and also glad actors like Cumberbatch have straight noses). Hooked/crooked/whatever noses are fugly and I don't even care if Holmes has such a nose in canon, I don't want to look at it.

I think some Holmes artists have gotten it right.

artist probably used a model. it'd be hard to find one that matches the description exactly and if you go around changing features it's really easy to mess up and make it look off putting
