Re: Birdy woes
(Anonymous) 2014-07-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)Illegality aside (which, yes, unless it's a sparrow, a starling or a pigeon, it IS illegal), that bird is going to die. Baby birds need to be fed every 15 minutes from sunup to sundown. And they can't just be fed birdseed; they require a specially-mixed diet.
If it's somehow miraculously still alive, call animal control. They'll come get it and transfer it to a licensed rehabilitator.
Oh, and tell your friend he's a dumbass for me.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-06 03:00 am (UTC)(link)(I will definitely pass along the dumbass by the way. I am really frustrated with him. It really seems like he hasn't thought this through at all.)
Re: Birdy woes
(Anonymous) 2014-07-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)But yes, it would be in the bird's best interest if you guys could get it to a wildlife center. Wild birds are not meant to be pets. He'd be better off going to a pet store and getting a hand-raised baby parakeet if what he wants is a young bird who will be friendly and affectionate towards him.
Also, if he wants a bird of any sort, he needs to be prepared: they're LOUD, even parakeets.

Quit worrying about his feelings or whatever - he's deliberately killing an animal.
