You realize that a good chunk of tumblr has been gushing over Some Like It Hot A LOT recently?

But, the reason I think a lot of old movies don't get much 'play' so to speak is because there is some really...unfortunate stuff in them. Holiday Inn, off the top of my head, with its black face.

There are movies like White Christmas and Court Jester (and well a lot of Danny Kaye films) that are shining gems, but I'm also in my 30s and grew up with these movies on TMC and AMC.

White Christmas was decent, but hardly a shining gem. Most of the movie was them cashing in on the popularity of the song at the time, resulting in a meandering, warm-hearted but ultimately stretched-out plot. Would've worked far better as a Christmas TV special vs a full two hour movie (though I understand TV not being as wide spread back then).

[/controversial opinion]

I will fully admit to being a sucker for anything with Danny Kaye.

I was really enjoying an old silent movie until they put in some really foul racist crap about Black people and Chinese people and made them look like idiots and freaks. It was like finding a turd in your omelet.
