My remembrance of the books are sketchy but...she loved him and he seemed to understand her issues from being in the games...that obviously doesn't imply consent, but I can't imagine him raping her? What is this?

It was some post on tumblr about five months ago. Annie couldn't consent because she was mentally ill? It's the reason I stopped reading the Finnick Odair tag because it was such bullshit. It supposes that anyone who suffers from PTSD or other trauma related disorders is incapable of consent and anyone who has sex with them is a rapist. It's an offensive opinion. I haven't read the books, but your understanding of their relationship and her state of mind was the same as mine based on the information I have about the characters through the films and meta.

I actually agree that that's a very offensive thing. How is a person supposed to move on from a trauma if they're treated as if they're untouchable.

Hell while I have a developmental disorder rather than a trauma related one I'd be pretty pissed if someone acted like I couldn't' give consent because of it.

Eh? I haven't been in the Babylon 5 fandom in years, but when I was I was almost entirely in the Centauri/Narn section of fandom (with some detours towards Susan Ivanova). Londo was about 50% of my reason for watching, and I shipped him with basically everybody, because canon polyamory and tentacle sex and his persistent habit of falling in love with the right wrong people. Londo/G'Kar was all looming tragedy and bitter loyalty and dying forgiveness, Londo/Urza was youthful lust and the tragedy of honour manipulated by politics, Londo/Timov was snark and loathing and grudging respect, Londo/Adira was romantic folly and lingering pain. About the only person I didn't ship him with was Vir, because I got too strong a father/son vibe there.

Either I missed the Londo hate then, or things have changed a bit lately?

The majority of the fandom either loves Londo or doesn't really care either way for him. But, there are some on tumblr who are, as of at least a year ago and more recently because I accidentally stirred up shit with my posts, vehemently opposed to people liking Londo and shipping him with G'Kar because Londo perpetuated genocide against the Narn (and because the Centauri are just generally a terrible people). Which, fine, if you want to dislike Londo for the shit he did, I can't really begrudge you because he's not a particularly good person by our or any standards. (He's my fucking favorite character of all time, so.)

But, the people with theses issues also manage to horribly mischaracterize G'Kar by maintaining the belief that G'Kar is only pretending to care about Londo to save his own people. Or some such bullshit that is completely opposed to canon and makes no sense. They seemed to have blocked that part in the show where G'Kar flat-out told Londo he forgave him. That doesn't sound like a person who is just protecting someone's life for his own and his people's gain. He saved his people and then left them to their own devices, so arguing that fifth season G'Kar is just being friend and protector to Londo for his people's sake is stupid.

Anyway, I have a lot of feelings about their relationship, as you can see.

Yup. If I had a fandom bike, Londo would be it. I ship him with everyone, even Vir.

Ah. Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, I adore Londo as a character, he's my favourite by a mile, but he's definitely the sort of character you like from behind the safety of the screen. As a person he's ... Um. Well. He learned? Eventually? And sometimes, tragically, mid-action, when it was too late to take it back. But that's about the best you can say for him, morally speaking, it is true.

I think it would have hurt G'Kar a lot less and made their relationship a lot less painful had that been true. There's a couple of moments, G'Kar and Vir in the lift with the blood, and G'Kar after Cartagia is overthrown when the other Narn ask him what he sacrificed for it, where you realise how much Londo has cost G'Kar, and not only in the blood of his people but with the fact that even Londo's mercy/friendship, offered in earnest, is marked by the loss of G'Kar's honour, and G'Kar knows it. But Londo is also the person who was there, at every step of the way. Londo was the one who ordered the destruction, Londo was the one who repented it, Londo was his ally and his betrayer and his victim and his torturer, Londo was the one who broke him before Cartagia, not with pain but with a promise of hope and a request, Londo was the one who helped him save Na'toth, Londo was a part of his struggles on Babylon 5 itself, Londo was his destined death and his constant companion and a incredibly flawed man that G'Kar came to know almost better than himself by the end. I don't think G'Kar ever wanted to care for Londo, but past a certain point there was simply so much history and so many moments of stark understanding and so much common ground between them and no-one else that he couldn't quite help it. A beloved enemy, one who damned him and was damned in turn, but at least they walked the road to hell together, and not without a certain caring by the end.

They always reminded me of a Gerald Kersh quote, actually: "There are those people that you hate, until that moment when you see, through a chink in their armour, the writhing of something nailed down and in torment." (From "Busto is a Ghost, Too Mean to Give Us A Fright". I think, anyway. It's been a while). And, ah, I had all sorts of feelings about their relationship as well, as you can probably tell -_-;

Any of the stuff related to the cancellations of Young Justice and Green Lantern: TAS, leading up to Teen Titans Go! becoming a full-fledged series. The 'Symbiosi (sp?)' thing, sending fake money (which I don't think actually happened to the best of my knowledge) to Cartoon Network, and all the drama/wank that accompanied it.

Unless something slipped by my radar during that span of time, I don't think I ever saw any of it leak onto F!S.

Eh, some corners of the Dragon Age fandom are upset that they can't romance Cole in the new game...and squicking out other parts of the fandom because it's been point blank stated that Cole's essentially a child when it comes to human relationships, and probably always will be according to the writers.

This wank keeps surfacing every now and then in my current fandom. I wish people would be more chill. So someone posted a couple of comments unanon, so what?

They can be so relaxed in the fandom, and I love it. Then suddenly one misplaced comment and everyone's at flash point.

The wank about Sam Wilson being an evil undercover HYDRA agent who'll eventually betray Steve, and the backlash by his fans about the people saying it being the same racists who made Rhodey's fanon characterization into a mean abusive douche to sent Tony crying into the arms of his one-true-love.

There also wasn't a whole lot that I saw of the wank about UBISOFT saying it's too complicated to animate a woman playable character for Assassin's Creed.

That "wank" didn't look like it had enough substance for FS. One terrible attempt to make a dumb management decision sound like an necessary artistic choice, and then a week of rants about it, some OTT, and then backlash from defensive gamers. so repetitive, if it went further I never saw it.

What? What? I just... I am so glad that I have never, ever seen this wank before because the idea that anyone could honestly believe it boggles my mind. And it's probably sad that the Rhodey thing(while disappointing) does not surprise me, oh fandom.

There was huge huge wank in NCIS fandom when Cote de Pablo left, but I never saw even a whisper of it here and I was a little surprised.

Also, I was very surprised that there were never any Teen Wolf secrets when Tyler Posey called Sterek bizarre, weird, and twisted a few months ago. That for sure I expected to see at least a couple of secrets about (either agreeing or disagreeing), but if it happened, I totally missed it.

Oh, we got a little of it. I remember a secret about the new woman that got into a discussion over the fandom's perception of her and of Ziva. And I remember how Newb (sorry, I stopped watching ages ago and don't know her name) was being treated as a Replacement Scrappy for Ziva and then laughing about how ZIVA was the Replacement Scrappy for Kate!
