F!S Anon Meme (the Tenth?)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it!

Here's one from my childhood - in the Sweet Valley series, why on earth was Elizabeth supposed to be "the nice one" when she was sometimes even more conniving and selfish than Jessica? Especially in Sweet Valley University, which I never read but apparently when Jessica's proclaimed innocent at a trial for drug use or something, Elizabeth responds by making out with her boyfriend? And she was supposed to be "the nice" one?

Ugh, this. The only reason I can think of looking back on it was that Jessica was usually the one who started shit and Elizabeth had to deal with it, but the ways she dealt with it made her just as bad. I hated her and all the "nice" girls in the Sweet Valley clone books I read because they were almost all like that.

Yeah, Elizabeth was possibly meant to steadily become a bit of a "broken nice girl" (wonder if that's a trope?), which admittedly I've seen happen IRL as well - you're right though that a lot of "nice" characters really weren't. They were just smart and polite to adults, so they got away with showing instances of cruelty. (Okay, I know people like that IRL too. I especially knew that type in HS. But they weren't characters we were supposed to be rooting for.)
