This is tough.

There's something about 3 that I really like. And I love that 11 is half-mad. But I guess, when it comes down to it, I'm just another 10 girl. And my favorite thing about him is the bit that most of his detractors hate: his arrogance. I love that he's slowly turning into a megalomaniac, and that it comes across as awful and tragic.

His arrogance would bother me less if the show portrayed it as a bad thing. I'm all for an arrogant, not perfect Doctor. But most of the time the show justifies it and portrays him as in the right when he really, really isn't. That being said, what bugs me most about Ten is his humanity. He is too human for me. He doesn't feel alien enough. I still love him, but not quite as much as others.

I'm cool with the last couple specials as a retrospective "Oh, yeah, Ten was really arrogant and that's probably a bad thing" moment. It does enough to call into question the myriad times when he was not in the right for me to be OK with it.

Agree about the humanity, though, that's definitely true and it definitely bothers me as well.. And I think the Rose plot, and the continuation of the Rose plot after she left the show, and to a lesser extent the Martha plot had a lot to do with that.

Yup. There are reasons that Donna is my favorite (besides that she is awesome) and that she weirdly is the only companion I ship him with. He was more tolerable with her and some of his best episodes are with her.

Hmm. I find your take interesting, because to me, it does come across as a bad thing. While there are a lot of stories where he is portrayed as being right, there are enough where he is portrayed as being either wrong/misguided or at least impotent ("Tooth and Claw," "The Runaway Bride," "Voyage of the Damned," "Midnight," and "Waters of Mars" come to mind) for his overall arc to read as "someone needs to check this dude." Maybe it's one of those things that's rather open to interpretation.

I can sort of see what you mean when it comes to him being too human, though. There is a bit more touch of humanity to him than many of the other doctors.

From what little I've seen of Ten...yeah.

I keep meaning to watch more DW, but the change from Nine to Ten was so abrupt and Ten rubbed me the wrong way almost from the beginning.

If Ten bugs you, skip to Eleven. He is very different, and from what I've seen if someone dislikes one of the two they usually like the other.

Ten bugged me a lot, but I absolutely adored Eleven....

Oops, I misread your comment. Skip TO Eleven - okay Yes, do that.

There are definitely episodes I like with Ten and I can accept that End of Time makes sense for him and what he became, but I still haven't forgiven him for his temper tantrum at Wilf. Wilf, of all people... who only did exactly what the Doctor would have done any other day.

So, full disclosure: I hate "End of Time" so much that I've never actually finished it. It rubbed me so wrong that I just...stopped watching.

AYRT

I finished it, but I refuse to ever watch it again. No need to be that pissed off at Ten again when he's going to regenerate at the end of it anyway.

I hate End of Time. And yes, he was horrible to Wilf. And it felt so out of character too, even for Ten. Would Ten really not sacrifice himself for someone else? And the idea that him not regenerating was more important than actually saving a life of someone who would die is just mind-blowingly bad writing and makes me think less of Ten.

Between that a couple of things in the latest episodes (Day of The Doctor and The Time of the Doctor) that make Ten seem rather selfish. Part of that can be dumped at Moffat's feet, but the seeds were there back when RTD was in control.
