I'm glad I'm not the only one. Sure, we don't know what he's like and he might be bland and boring - but still, he doesn't deserve this if he's not doing anything wrong. After all, OP picked him.

I'll be honest too, this secret hits at a hidden fear of mine -- that someone I love might be only tolerating me and actually thinks I'm pathetic but doesn't say anything. Just…don't do that to someone. It's really cruel, even if you don't mean for it to be.

Like if you dislike your partner up to the point you say this sort of stuff to other people - why on earth are you with them in the first place.

Because they're afraid of being on their own? Which strikes me as pathetic, but a lot of people would rather be unhappy and with someone than be on their own. Weird.

That could be a reason. Some of it might also have to do with societal expectations/family pressure, or the screaming biological clock, or a mix.

If someone is the type unable to stand up to their own parents, they might end up marrying someone they don't love because at the time they were thinking "well, you'll do."
