I've never seen the play, but the subtext was mildly there in the book. I shipped Elphaba with that Firenze dude more though. (It's been a while since I read the book.)

Do yourself a favor and don't see the play. The book is so much better, which isn't saying much since it isn't that great of a book, either.

Eh. I liked the book enough to read it twice. But, then again, I was 15 and the book opened with a dude with two cocks fucking a mother and daughter. What I'm saying is it made me tingly.

I'd say the exact opposite, I love the play and only like the book.

eh, difference strokes etc. I thought the book was ok and the musical was phenomenal.

Firenze is the centaur in Harry Potter...

I know. I can't remember the dude's name in Wicked. I kinda ship Harry/Firenze. I blame Brad Neely's Wizard People, Dear Reader. Just, you know, FYI.

Fiyero. He's more of a mixture of Avaric in the musical version though.

His name is Fiyero. I used to have really detailed headcanons for both the book and the musical but I can't remember now. I could ot3 them.

In the book, Elphaba's parents were in a canon ot3. I remember that.

I'd read fic of them as an OT3.

Centaur shipping is the best shipping

Also, there's a Major League Baseball player who's alleged to have a massive painting of himself as a centaur on the wall of his home, and it always cracks me up when I think of it

welp, that's your centaur update for today, August 20

Noted massive superstar and steroid controversialist Alex Rodriguez

omg lol

Don't listen to them, the musical is much better than the book. The musical actually has, you know, a cohesive story instead of edgy scenes just to be edgy shoulder to shoulder with boring politics. The musical is more Oz-ian.

I agree with you 100%. I found the book unpleasant at best, and borderline offensive at worst, in part due to its apparent determination to distance itself as much as possible from the "Wizard of Oz" family-friendliness.

The book WAS supposed to be a string of events. It's called "The Life and Times" for a reason. No one in the musical had an actual personality.

I thought the book was okay, but the sudden bestiality orgy ruined it for me.

I saw this comment completely out of context on flat view and it's fucking hilarious

(Anonymous) 2014-08-21 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
It was, hands down, THE WORST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ.

I had to force my way through it. It was boring and the characters were awful. I wanted them all to die a quick death so that I could stop reading the book.

Then why the fuck didn't you? I'll never understand people who hate a book/movie/show/game so much but continue to read/play/watch it.

You people are insane.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Because I'm not a quitter and I was hoping somewhere along the line it would get better.

Masochist. Plain and simple. You are insane.
