...oh, Christ. Is this guy an Odinist?

And yes, he is racist. The giveaway is the "but it's not okay for white people to do this thing that I think all other races/ethnicities are allowed to do."

Yep... or sort of! I just looked at his religion, and it's "Wodenism" and Woden is the English form of Odin, I think.

Ugggggh, those guys. *all the facepalming*

I asked, by the way, because I'm Asatru, and people like your acquaintance drive my community* up the fucking wall (there is absolutely nothing in the lore or in any of the records that forbids interracial marriage or that says that only white people can follow the Norse gods).

*It occurs to me that there are people who identify as Asatru who hold the same views as this guy, which is a whole lot of unfortunate bullshit.

Asatru traditions

Didn't the Aesir, Vanir, and Jotun all interbreed in the myths?

They did, and the three Vanir we know of were counted amongst the Aesir, and some Aesir had either a Jotun parent (e.g. Thor) or began as a Jotun (e.g. Skadi). "Aesir" doesn't seem to have been a racially-bounded term.

Most of the racists dismiss all of that, however, because...well, they don't have very good arguments, honestly. It all relies on misinterpretation of myth (which shouldn't be taken literally, anyway) and a complete disregard for history and biology. Basically, they're just like the racists in every other group. :-/

Nope, revenge is what I will do instead: Have you by any chance ever heard of Vigrid? Which seems to be the Norwegian version of Odinism, or I assume so, if the Odinist people also are a bit Nazi.

but honestly, don't worry about it, I had an inkling before googling it

Odinists are sometimes Nazi-ish, yeah.

But oh frak, Vigrid has a party? And it's received actual votes (very few, but still)?

Vengeance achieved, sir or madame. Vengeance achieved.

Welcome to Scandinavia where we have forgotten how bad Nazis are (just look at the Swedes)

Well they aren't anymore (as the leader got sick and said it was done , which it isn't), but reading the Norwegian Wiki page I learnt something more: In 2009 they managed to get registered as a party* and in one of the counties and during the Mock School Election* it was included and in one school it got 10% of the votes.

*500 signatures is what you need to be a registered political party

*In High School we "vote" to prepare ourselves for the real voting we will do when we turn 18, and it works like a real election, except it doesn't count.

Ooooh goodness. Well, ah. Did that figure include all grades? Maybe some kids didn't...completely...know? :-/

We have something similar in the US. During every presidential election, there's a "voting day" for students (the results aren't announced anywhere outside of the school, however. At least, as far as I'm aware).

It did include grade 11-13, but it was probably a pretty small school. Then again last election about 15% of the votes went to the "political correct" racist party, so one never knows at this point. Europe is pretty much going to hell as a whole continent by this point.

Oh ours are countrywide and such, and the result is usually pretty similar to the real election. Also politicians come to the school and have panels where they discuss questions and we can ask them stuff, and they remind us of the youth section of their political party and tell us we should join them and so on.

(just look at the Swedes)

But dare to say this worries you and you get labeled "communist" and rants about the "leftist" propaganda... I fear for my country.
