Except ward and Garrett were using hydra for their own goals, they didn't genuinely support them.

Well there was a lot of imprisonment without trial, murder, implied rape, attempted murder, and then all the nazi stuff that nazi controlled shield did that Ward approved of. He also threw away the best pastrami sandwich on earth.

OP didn't say they supported Hydra, OP said 'join a nazi organization'. And they did.

Garret and Ward deserve to burn in hell.

Is hydra an actual nazi organization in the mcu in the present? They didn't have a problem working with Raina, a woman of color.

They definitely started out as one in the MCU. Might have branched out to other things. And with the super soldier thing and the artefact, it looks like they're still into eugenics. Whitehall is a literal Nazi.

I would argue that's still slightly better. Equally evil, but less crazy. There's knowing something is evil and doing it anyway for selfish gain, and truly believing in an ideology and thinking it's right.

Not arguing that. But there's personal crazy and ideological crazy and there's a difference in that, too. Doesn't excuse either of them for what they do, but one is more understandable.

I thought that excuse was "just following orders," not "I was an evil selfish asshole, just not a crazy fanatic asshole"... which is not much of an "excuse" at all, more a clarification of motive.

iirc in the first movie, when Hydra was a Nazi branch organization, the Red Skull announced he was breaking off because the Nazi's weren't taking things far enough and were shortsighted.
