Re: Juggernaut pairings you don't ship?
Dean/Cas - used to be fairly into it, but it was never as huge in canon as it's made out to be and they've toned it down so much over the past few seasons that I have trouble even understanding the wank about it anymore.
Hannibal/Will - the only way this would work is if Will was completely annihilated as a human being, just fully transformed into Hannibal 2, and one Hannibal is enough. Plus they'd end up murdering the whole entire world, which is a little too dark for me. I have to honestly feel like two people would be good for each other to ship them. The sex would be incredible, though.
Any big Lost ship - I thought Jack was the greatest triumph of unintentional humor in TV history, loved Sawyer until he discovered romance and became deadly boring, had no interest in Kate at all and hated almost everyone else by the end, so no. Ben/Locke was always the niche pairing everyone could see or at least joke about, but very few of us read or wrote them, and I'm still around.
Eddie/Waylon from Outlast - not my kinks, but I'm currently writing something about their interaction in a framework of mostly-platonic-but-kind-of-shippy Miles and Waylon.
I need to feel like there's something missing or some amazing unexplored potential canon will never get into to really want to read or write fic about it, and I don't feel that way about the first three. I love their canon relationships so much that it can feel like a kind of shipping, but I guess I save most of that energy for my original stuff these days. It's a great feeling when all your ships are canon and have happy endings, even if you have to write the whole thing yourself, lol.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 04:58 am (UTC)(link)Oh, thank god I'm not the only one! It honestly only works as a dark, non-con sort of pairing. I didn't mind it initially, but now it's just... everywhere, and I'm sick of it and of the hardcore shippers.
The thing that bugs me is, for it to work, Will is written as this poor, helpless woobie, or it's like his personality got removed. (Hannibal, too, to a certain extent.)
But maybe the brainwashing is part of the appeal?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)I like Hannibal/Will a lot, and while I don't see much of the Master Goal of Sex (because the show pounds in that he wants a partner/murder husband; and a lot of fics start them banging before Will knows, anyway), I do know exactly what you both mean about Wispy Will! I guess I don't mind it in certain types of fic - brainwashing is totally a kink, yeah - but I feel like I ought to defend as someone who ships their IC versions, too...
(In a better world, sex would be another battleground for their power struggle; rather than this saying sex is superfluous to their relationship, it only has significance because they're not having it.)
If you did want the pairing to work out in a semi-good way, it's not that Will would have to be annihilated - he's changed to the point where he can accept "doing bad things to bad people" as of S2; the person who needs to meet him in the middle now is Hannibal.
Hannibal has his arbitrary Rude, which isn't even a strong rule; it doesn't sound like a far stretch for him to use Will's type of justice as a standard, instead. Some of my favorite stories are basically Murder Husbands with Vigilante-ish Caveats. No, Hannibal will never be motivated by justice or altruism, but if he wants Will to stick around...? Well, the window for such a thing in the show has probably already closed, but that's why fanworks exist.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)Can I just say, I'm so glad you've written so much truly awesome fic for my creepy-yet-oddly-romantic old guy otp! There may be very little fanwork for these two but at least the little that does exist is stellar :)
