They're going with what they are familiar with?
Everyone else is doing it?
Really absurd and hilarious things can happen when you work in those kind of places, and they want to write about that? Like when I worked in the bar my parents owned, and the volunteer fire department was in there for lunch except for one guy when a call came in about a vehicle on fire. They decided the one guy who wasn't there could handle it, but it turned out the vehicle on fire was his truck. He was the one who called the FD in the first place.
I've never actually read a service industry AU so I don't what tends to happen in them.

But hell yeah I want more workplaces popping up as the central thing! Give me the construction workers especially! Maybe even flight attendant AU because then you get to have cameos of weirdo passengers in the background of the work drama. And what about game store worker AU? That could be such a parody of webcomics, or stupidly earnest ♥ yeah i kind of just like aus period i'm sorry

I also read one that revolved around an Apple store, which I'd never come across before.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 03:09 am (UTC)(link)Well, it's not an AU, it's actually Peter Parker supplementing his income, but here you go! Marvel movies 'verse before there an MCU.

Here you go.
(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 05:02 am (UTC)(link)I looked up Cater too, but apparently, a lot of people misspell Sam Carter (Stargate).
There are other service industry AUs out there. Off the top of my head, I can think of a couple of handyman ones, landscapers, computer techies/tech support, cashiers, mechanics, etc.
