Dragon Age Spoilers

(Anonymous) 2014-11-29 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Is everyone else who made Alistair a King rather than a Warden as chuffed as I am?

My girlfriend made him stay with the wardens. I have been lording it over her since the scene

Well thanks, I didn't feel bad enough about it already. :/

(Even though I don't see how keeping him as a Warden is the 'wrong' choice, yes, it hurts. Still, I made that choice for a reason, so from now on I'm just going to need to do a lot of headcanon'ing on certain playthroughs.)

Who'd you kill? Him or Hawke?

I actually haven't done that quest yet, but youtube spoiled me. (Was looking for a vid of a f!Inquisitor flirting with Cass, and 'Varric mourns Hawke' was in the suggested links. I freaked out.)

I will 'kill' my Hawke (the quest says 'likely die'! though, yes, Hawke will probably die, or if not come back later possessed by a dark spirit), since maybe the Warden will find a way to cure the calling. My first Warden is my favorite, and Ali is my all time favorite LI so I can't leave him behind or give up on their 'happily ever after' even if it's unlikely. (And I did say to myself, "Well, how likely is it that the Warden is going to find a cure for the calling? Alistair and the Warden probably don't have much longer to live." But I still can't leave Alistair.)

I'm interested in how things play out with your LI in the future. (Like...if you leave Anders alive, which I did on this play-through, will he try to rescue Hawke? He's trying to be 'better' but he has to be unstable; I can imagine him trying something dumb and risky.)

DA

I wish it was possible to blacklist tags on youtube as well because that is EXACTLY what happened to me @ suggested video..

Yea, it sucks. :( You shouldn't go looking for a flirt conversation and be spoiled by a major character death or major plot point. In this particular instance I think I'm actually sort of glad to be spoiled because I was so heartbroken and now I've had some time to get used to the idea, but I don't want this to happen again. I think I'll just stay away from YouTube until I finish the game...

I'm trying to finish my companions quests before progressing with the story, and getting distracted by other shit along the way, so it might be a while. I wish YouTube wasn't so risky.

I didn't even search for it, I just got it as a "You might also like" on my frontpage, probably because I watched the trailer because I never looked at anything else about Inquisition.

:( That's even worse! I hate that you don't even have to be logged in to get those suggestions. Sometimes it can be helpful, sometimes...yea, no.

If you make Alistair a warden at the end of DA1 he shows up in DAI as a warden in a mission where you need to send someone to die. You can either fuck over the wardens and send Alister to die, or you can let Hawke die.

People were like 8(

If you made Alistair a King, some other warden shows up. You're still fucking over the wardens, but the choice is between some random nobody, and Hawke.

These people are like XD

Oh bugger, I made him king. I'm going to get the boring choice :C

It's not that boring. You need the wardens help, so you really should kill hawke.

Nah, no way. My hawke/myself is not nearly that self-sacrificing. Goodbye random Wardens*!

*opinion may chance when I eventually get to play it.

If you're not already playing it, I'm pretty sure you can manipulate your choice about Alistair via The Keep and then import it when you start?

Oh, Bioware, reducing moral complexity to kick-the-puppy roleplay coercion Baldur's Gate.

Alistair stayed behind in my playthrough. Strangely I don't feel as sad about his death as I thought I would. I guess because I feel like he took Wardening is seriously as my own Hero did, and was probably prepared to make the sacrifice the moment the Inquisitor got in touch with him. It just seemed fitting for his story to end like that. His place was always to fight until he died for others.

On the other hand I couldn't even begin to accept Garret staying behind. When I first saw him at Skyhold I just wanted to reach through the screen and give that big bear of a man a hug. :(

Hah, Alistair's not an issue in the playthrough I imported (he and the Archdemon had a date), so I'm looking forward to seeing how the game compensates.

You'll have the same options as someone with a King Alistair playthrough: Hawke or Warden McRandom.
