BK: “It’s a good way; but there is no way to satisfy everyone and, at the end of the day, you just have to tell the story that you want to tell, and put it out there. If you start second-guessing, like ‘Well, I better see how many tumblr pages are dedicated to this ship.’ And then ‘Well, but wait, there’s fewer of these but they’re a little better quality.’ Like, if that’s how you’re gonna write and create, you’re gonna make a crappy show; so we just tell the story that Mike and I, and the writers, feel we like; and, sometimes people will like it, sometimes they don’t. Everyone in this room probably has a different opinion.”

MD: “And then; then, then, then, then…and then there’re still people who want Mako and Korra to get back together, so, you know.”

Pretty much what I expected, they're not going to do it. There's going to be a shitstorm come the 19th (Or at least, that's what I got from 'we won't do what tumblr wants us to do' lol)

The tumblr side is 100% convinced it's going to happen actually, it's not going to be pretty. Especially since they'll asspull a reason for Makorra to get back together. (Or maybe it'll end with friendly friends instead of romance, one can hope)

Not really? Like, it's fun to talk about and wish for it to become true but it's also borderline impossible because main girl getting with a girl in an american cartoon? Not going to happen, which is why it's so annoying when people want to point out the obvious. Yes, we know the heteroship will win over the homoship. No shit. The tumblr fandom is aware, but we still want to squee over the korrasami bits even with the knowledge of it never happening.

Personally I hope there's no canon ship at the end of the series. She's still a young adult, no need for her to find tru~luv straight away. Lets start with some nice steady friendships.

Maybe if Makorra hadn't started off so badly but it was such a clustefuck in the first few seasons. Better to go without it.

Korrasami has the Zutara numbers I think, but at least there's no way in hell Bryke will take the Korrasami fanart and animate it to poke fun at them. They'd get such a huge backlash for it LOL

I legitimately like Mako/Korra. It's one of the few canon ships I've ever liked, actually. :/

I used to like Bopal until last episode. Using their relationship status to get Bolin to go on a dangerous mission for her, even if it's for her family, was low. She should have asked him as a friend.

I mean, they have a valid point - they should write the story the way they want to write it, not the way their fanbase wants them to write it.

My problem with Makorra, though, isn't that it's the expected tropey het ship. It's that Mako is a dick (Or at least he was when I stopped watching; haven't caught up yet)

Mako has matured a lot in s3/4. (The clips episode made people foam about Mako again, but it was supposed to be funny/them poking fun at themselves with the crappy situation Nick gave them)

He was supposed to be the teen heartthrob in S1, but around S3 they started treating him as an actual character and he's gotten better. I wouldn't call him an excellent character, but even I've gotten endeared to him (and his antics with the Earth Kingdom heir)

I've seen this before, I thought this was something new.

I'll just rest easy if we don't have Makorra in the end. I love korrasami, and all the moments, but I have absolutely no expectation of it being canon.

I will throw a shitfit though, if they did what they did with zutara fandom and try to tease us. That's just incredibly rude.

i think you mean hilarious, considering all the shit the zutara fandom did. calling aang/katara a child molester ship, shitting on both aang and mai, throwing huge bitchfits about bryke not making zutara canon. that was one of the worst fanbases and the backlash it got was awesome, and this is coming from someone who didn't like either ship; the only ship i liked was zuko/jet.
