so I got a job

I'm really excited about it! It's a real, full-time, grown-up job! (Up until now I've only worked part-time, when I wasn't just busy being a student)

I'll be moving out of my parents' house in a couple weeks. Job starts in January. It's a lab job with a healthcare provider.

I'm such an adult ^^

Sadly, one of the only major downsides is that it will drastically decrease my presence on F!S. It's a second-third-ish shift job, which means there are only two days out of the week I'll be online when F!S posts on time to have any reasonable discussion. I actually love the shift (I'm a total night owl) but I'll miss being able to come here nearly every day.

The corollary to that is I'll no longer be able to run the F!S book club. There's just no way I can do it when I can only make announcements two days a week at most. If anyone wishes to pick it up I will still participate! But sadly, I must step aside as organizer. I will still hold discussion for the December book though. I'll make a post about it below.

I work the same shift you do. While you're right that running a group like book club would probably be unfeasible, as long as I have a phone and get a dinner break sometime during post-time, it's really easy to just be here and commenting for a bit.

Well, I don't have a smart phone, and while I will eventually get one it's not high on my list of priorities (neither is a data plan). I know that a lot of people do this though, and if I had a smart phone, I definitely would.

haha, sometimes it feels like that! But I've been feeling pretty upbeat lately because of the job (even my car troubles - which turn out to be not as bad as I thought they might be! - didn't get me down too much)

I've actually known about the job for almost a week, but because of the holidays haven't had a chance to post about it. (I wanted to do it on a weeknight too so people who are in the book club would see the announcement)

Also I totally got a corkscrew for Christmas. My folks are awesome. They also gave me a growler of my favorite beer and a gift card to my favorite brewery. They have prepared me for adulthood well indeed. :)

I don't really feel like I should be any more specific because people know what city I live in and they could actually narrow it down by quite a lot if I revealed more information and if anyone was creepy and resourceful enough to try. I do like talking about it (it's an interesting job) but I feel like I should maintain some anonymity...
