1. Watching South Park.

2. Searching, posting and discussing celebrities nude photos. Like someone can say that in that movie we can see Armitage's nut, but I wouldn't like if they posted a screenshot.
Hey, it's says dump things.

3. Holey socks.

upd. 4. When someone writes fics for A/B and A/C (and A/D...) ships. It seems indecisive.
Edited 2015-01-03 00:38 (UTC)

About 4., maybe they just really like character A.

And don't have a One True Pairing, but would rather explore the character in different relationships and their dynamics with different characters.

Re: About 4., maybe they just really like character A.

True... It's still strange when a writer is equal opportunity regarding x in A/x.

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, 4 is strange to me. I'm a multishipper for sure-- let's say I ship A/B and A/C, it's not because I can't decide between the two, it's because I find both of those relationships fascinating for totally different reasons. In my head, they exist in two separate universes, if that makes sense? That's the best way I can think to describe it. One in which A/B is a thing and C is otherwise a good friend (or whatever role it is they usually fill), one in which A/C is a thing and B is otherwise in their other role. Because I love both those scenarios equally, so there's no need to "decide" between them.

Hmm, you know, I think you're spot on.
I'm a multishipper. I'd read more than one ship with my fave character in any given fandom. But I stick to one ship in my writing. Maybe because it happens in the one universe that I write and with my version of the characters.

What's up with South Park?

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's pretty offensively idiotic.

The last time I brought it up on FS I was told I started with the wrong ep.. It was the Paris Hilton one. It's just so crude and I hate all the characters and the graphics are terrible. Argh.

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

[personal profile] dethtoll 2015-01-03 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno. I'll not get into the show's content and characters 'cuz that's a longer argument I don't have time for (you totally did start on the wrong ep, btw, but I'd have to think about a good ep to start with 'cuz it really depends on the viewer's temperament) but the animation is what makes the show for me. I like that it's simple and stupid and their fucking around with Maya is so blatantly obvious compared to the rest of the animation. It's a middle finger to all the other animated shows that on the surface have better technique but are really weakly animated.

I'll ship everything and write ships for everything. It's less indecisive so much as, "LET ME SHARE MY LOVE FOR ALL THESE SHIPS!!!!"

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

[personal profile] solticisekf 2015-01-03 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
So you, like, write Sam/Noel and then write Jean/Noel in another fic? What happens to poor lonely Sam?

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT

But that assumes that the Sam/Noel fic and the Jean/Noel fic exist within the same universe.

Unless they're specifically written as part of a series, I consider every new fic I write as starting from scratch as a brand new universe within that fandom, so everything would be fair game.

What? You can't have multiple ships now?

...Sometimes it really works in the context of a story, though. Like A is a big cheaty mccheaterson and is having an affair with B on C or...

Only shipping ONE thing seems like something I'm inclined to judge in the opposite direction about, now that I think about it.

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

[personal profile] solticisekf 2015-01-03 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Not allowed! See the sign: "OTP exclusive".

A cheaty mccheaterson? Nice one.

Do you mean shipping as in writing fics for, in the last sentence?

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-01-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I mean the more I think about it the more I go the other way if people are so rabid about an OTP that they can't possibly see the characters involved ever being with anyone else. I'mma probably judge that more than I would judge someone who ships A as the proverbial town bicycle.

I wear holey socks just because I can't be bothered to throw them out until they get really bad.

Why do you judge for that? How do you know the person wearing them just can't afford better socks?

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

[personal profile] solticisekf 2015-01-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't 'judge' judge it.) But, but it's so easy to throw it away and get another pair!
My sis subjects herself to holey socks though because she has favorite pairs.

I know you're not actually talking about folk who are frugal out of necessity, but I gotta agree with diet there (and it gives me the willies!).

I still have trouble throwing things out even though I now have the means to replace them. I'm getting better about it, but it's still very much ingrained from being at points in life where no, it's not so easy to throw things away.

Bah, not really meaning this at you either. This thread just reminded me how rankled I felt as a kid when people told me this without understanding we were absolutely not on the same level.

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Same. A sock that has one hole in it but is otherwise fine is still a perfectly good sock! To me it's a huge waste of money to throw it away. It's like throwing away a plate that has a tiny chip on the edge. It's still functional, the only thing that's affected is the aesthetics.

Re: Dumb things you're judgy about

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Depends where the hole is though. Sometimes holes can rub and cause blisters, which is usually about the time I realize the sock needs throwing away. Less aesthetics and more 'this thing is no longer functional'.

If you can't afford better socks, then you should learn to darn holey socks. It's not hard.

lol ok, I will immediately change all my habits regarding my socks because an anon on the internet told me to.

For the record, I can afford better socks, I just have a lower threshold than you for when I need to replace them. But it's lovely how judgey you sound of people who can't afford better socks and that you seem to think poor people should adopt a particular behavior because you say so.

south park is one of the only honest television shows to be on air in the last 20-odd years. if you don't like it, i don't blame you, because it is pretty crude and silly, but why would you judge somebody for watching it? if you like satire and you're american, it's hard to not at least appreciate it.

The Paris Hilton episode was really disrespectful. Firstly because she might see it, secondly because slut-shaming.
But that's just my opinion, don't mind it. I'm not in US.)
