Writing on tumblr
(Anonymous) 2015-01-05 01:44 am (UTC)(link)It seems like people show their support for fanartists by reblogging their work. But people show their support for writers by following them. I've noticed the writers I follow have tons of followers, but hardly any of those people ever comment, like, or reblog the writers' posts. Meanwhile, the artists I follow always get tons of likes and reblogs, even if they have comparatively few followers. People seem to passively engage with writing and actively engage with art.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-05 02:31 am (UTC)(link)I basically only reblog things that I think are exceptionally good or that I think fit in with the theme of my blog. However, I like anything that I, well, like or for which I just want to show support.
I'd wondered why I sometimes saw people saying, "I'm cleaning out my likes." Now that you've explained how you go about things, it makes a lot more sense!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-05 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)It's sort of like having a favorite restaurant where you go eat and get take out all the time, but you never make eye contact or speak to the people who serve you your food. Lots of people think that's fine. I think it's weird because I've worked in situations like that and it feels weird to know that people aren't interested in you as a person, they're only interested in consuming what you make for them.
