Ohh an "I judge you secret" how lovely
hwc: Sailor Star Fighter from Sailor Moon (anime) (Sailor Moon - Sailor Star Fighter)

Or someone just likes the pairing better.

I mean, Usagi/Seiya is one of the few real OTPs that I have, so I'm biased, obviously, but even before Starlights happened I didn't find Mamoru all that great (based solely on the anime) and the concept of it being Usagi's destiny to marry Mamoru somewhat creepy.

Edit: I also need the fanart from the secret. Does anyone know the artist?

Huh, I thought it was YoukaiYume's but I'm not finding it in her DeviantArt gallery (her Seiya x Usagi stuff is excellent though, would recommend!) I did reverse image search and found a larger version here:

I didn't find Mamoru great in any incarnation, not the anime, not the manga, and not the new anime. I never hated him, but sometimes I wondered why Usagi even liked him so much.

The truth is as much time as we spend with Usagi and Mamoru, they give us more "it's destiny" then actual reasons why they like each other. By the time they get together without being tortured about it, it was kind of too late for me to care.

Seiya at least legitimately liked Usagi without needing to remember some past life to make the romance go forward. I loved the original Stars anime because I liked having a break from Usagi/Mamoru (and ChibiUsa too, who I like but who was featured way too heavily in Supers) and having other characters interact with Usagi and the other senshi.

It's some Japanese artist and I used to have the link to their site in Delicious, but I couldn't find it just now so possibly the site's gone down. Now I just have a bunch of their art that I'd saved to my computer :(

Judge away

(Anonymous) 2015-01-15 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
what people enjoy in fiction =/= what they do irl

It's been a long time since I read/watched the Sailor Starlights stuff. I've read a lot of "I judge you" secrets but what you're judging them on seems so very subjective that I can't really see how you could judge anyone on that and it feels a bit troll-y.

On another note, I've always viewed Sailor Starlights as "he"s. Is that not generally accepted in the fandom or what's the current/most widely held view?

I don't know what the popular opinion is, but I headcanon the anime version of Starfighter as FtM. But only that version, and only Starfighter.

Well I'm over here actually shipping the most superior ship. USAGI/REI.

YAWN.

She/he was there for Usagi when Mamoru wasn't. And even though they were serious in wanting to date her, most of the time, Seiya was goofing around and didn't expect Usagi to just jump up and date them. And hell, in the manga, she was trying her damnedest to make Usagi see what was in front of her, as she needed to face the truth and move on to fight against Galaxia.

Seiya could be a jerk, but they were awesome. And far more interesting than Mamoru. Well, anime!Mamoru anyway.

What? What version of Seiya were you watching/reading? Sure Seiya was a big flirt and fell for Usagi, but when it came down to it Seiya had a lot of respect for Usagi. Likening it to abuse is going way too far.

And while I didn't completely ship them I find them MUCH more interesting then Usagi/Mamoru. I know Usagi/Mamoru is THE ship of Sailormoon but it was never written interesting in any form, the "romance because it's destined/we have to" is really not something I care for.

Image: anime screen cap of Sailor Moon looking into the eyes of someone who is NOT Tuxedo Mask.

Text: Words cannot adequately describe how much this pair squicks me.

Usagi is naïve and easily flustered and confused, but she could never love anyone the way she loves Mamoru. The fact that Seiya didn’t seem to care at all and tried to manipulate Usagi into being with her anyway disgusts me. People who think that that’s somehow romantic really upset me.

If you ship this, I will assume you are probably either an abuser or an abuse victim.

I want to call troll, but I've seen a post with this exact sentiment on Tumblr a couple of years ago. It really makes me wonder what version of the manga you people have been reading (where it didn't happen like that) or what version of the anime you've been watching (where it really didn't happen like that).

(Anonymous) 2015-01-15 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
It the 90s anime final ep, it's made pretty clear that Usagi knew Seiya was crushing on her, but chose not to let Seiya know that she knew that.

She's not *that* oblivious, really, but a lot of people don't seem to get that.

What I find creepy is that when he's a dude he looks like a cheap version of Mamoru in looks and she basically is attracted to him for this reason. It's like they just replaced her boyfriend with one who looks like him until Mamoru would come back. I hate this trope.

But the most creepy thing is that in in my country, if I remember well, they made it so that when he's a girl that one is his twin sister and thus are two separate characters. They actually wanted to cancel the anime because apparently kids would get traumatized and confused by these characters. Idiots. There were many things in the anime that aren't suitable for kids, there was a lot of violence too but that was fine while sexual references were not. Perhaps you shouldn't buy the anime as something for kids when japanese animes are made for another target and not 6-9 years old kids.
