(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)So instead you just ship the guys and fill the void of female characters/relationships that popular fiction leaves by creating your own?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-18 01:42 am (UTC)(link)There are so few f/f ships with engaging, well-written characters that I look to m/m ships for the character dynamics I like.
And then I write original fiction with all the f/f characters I would love to read about.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)Lately I'm into trying to give underdeveloped female characters a better story, but it's a lot easier to find good fic about characters who are already well-written... which is a group that, unfortunately, mostly includes men. And it's a hell of a lot easier to find an audience for fic about male characters than it is to find an audience for my fics about female characters who were poorly developed in canon.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)Apparently, there is a particular dynamic that appeals to me when I've got free reign with both characters and story: older women, with usually a mild brains & brawn sort of dynamic going on, and for some reason usually a difference of political opinion/loyalty relevant to the plot.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)In fic I write slash because that's what I really like. Cliched tropey setups, the works. Guilty pleasure, not real at all.
In original fic, I feel like my writing has to be less cliched. So I have more lesbians because they're an easier sell to the general public (straight men won't be put off so much) and I still get to have my gay.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-18 01:04 am (UTC)(link)Text: I love yaoi. /My OTPs are all m/m. I will ship two guys for the flimsiest of reasons.
But for some reason …
My original fic is full of lesbians!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-18 03:37 am (UTC)(link)Anon, I find with my own writing that there is a big difference between ships I like and ships I feel I can write. Maybe that's what's happening here. I don't know why it happens, but it does happen. So like what you like, and create what you can. No worries either way. :)
