Pokémon fandom also has a lot pokemon x human ships, so you sometimes run into porn of children screwing magical animals too. All in all, it's a great fandom, full of well adjusted adults.

Definitely one of the worst fandoms I've ever been in full of people who take a damn kids game way too fucking seriously and have some of the most disgusting porn I've ever encountered. Basically there was a secret porn forum for the higher ups, some of which were underage. It's no longer around because the ad company that owns them. There's been no police involvement because the evidence is insuffiencent, but ex-mods have confirmed it so take that as you will.

I'd heard the stories about the Pokemon fandom and stayed away.

Then I found a pairing I actually liked, by accident, with two of the adults. I was reading a really long, great fic I was really enjoying, only for it to suddenly take a violent rapey turn at the end. The rape is love trope, the whole works. The rest of the fic was such good quality. Lots of complex characters, great scene setting and actual research for locations and plot. I really wasn't expecting it.

Put off the fandom for life now, and yeah, I should have known. There's a reason reputations are born.

I'd say that its reasonably well known. It's be recced here at least one time that I know of (if you're referring to this series anyway: http://archiveofourown.org/series/70876)

That's the one. I'll always have fond memories of the first two thirds of that fic.

Then there was the sex scene. By that stage, I trusted the writer to be able to handle it. They could not.

I remember even re-reading that chapter in amazement, thinking I must have missed something. I'd seen certain elements coming from the writer's foreshadowing. All those elements were there as I'd expected in this scene. Just not tied together in any way that was credible.

I understand some people have this kink and a scene like that might hit the spot - but as a porny standalone fic, not in the middle of an otherwise well-written story. What's the point of setting up characters for 100k words only to have them act so bizarrely unlike themselves?

But then, Pokemon is a fandom known for its pointless rape fics. At least this one was just human on human. It was only disappointing because the rest of the fic was so skilfully done.

Looking back, I get the feeling that this was one of those fics that grew from the idea for one sex scene and took on a larger life of its own. The only problem was, the characters had outgrown that sex scene by the time the writer had reached that point.
