OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Asked her if she wanted to talk. She said no. So I told her if she wanted to talk to me she can. She has a therapist so perhaps she will talk to her.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't talk to someone who'd already judged me for my weight either.

What did you expect?

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I never actually said anything to her. Nor would I. Which is why i asked for advice.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I did mention she might want to think about losing weight"

???

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
My reading was that OP mentioned to OP's sister, the mother of the girl in question, that the girl might want to lose wait. Not that OP said that to the girl.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Then you've read it differently to everyone else in this thread.

Nice try and changing your statement there, OP.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I am not OP.

Sorry for offering an alternate interpretation. I hope that you enjoy being angry about OP's attitudes.

NAYRT

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
What's wrong with being upset about their attitude? They're sitting there saying they don't want to be judey, and they're being super judgey but couching it as "I wanna heeelp."

I'm totally fine being angry at judgmental assholes, thanks.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
We should never get angry about things. We should be emotionless automatons.

Ah, different interps. I considered that one, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Besides, it would the back to the niece, either way.

That's what I thought as well.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, several other family members were working out/eating healthier. I told her that if she wanted to lose weight (as she expressed interest) that we could help her figure out a excercise/eating plan.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Your story's changing too much as soon as you're called out.

1/10. Nice try.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
how so?

Re: OP

(Anonymous) - 2015-01-21 02:58 (UTC) - Expand

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
So you did tell her, but you didn't? And "She gained alot of weight recently and doesn't seem to care" but she expressed an interest in... losing weight, or eating healthy and exercise? I'm confused. Besides, anyone already getting picked on about their weight will immediately clue into the "lose weight" part of any statement like that. Even if you think its sounded well meaning and helpful, it wasn't.

This story's changing so much, I think you're either lying about something, or trying to make yourself sound better than the original conversation went.

Re: OP

As your Internet Attorney (NOT AN ACTUAL ATTORNEY) I advise you not to respond to any further questions in this thread.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, you suckin all the fun outta life. :P

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Then why would you say:

"I mentioned last time I saw her (last year) I did mention she might want to think about losing weight"

???

DA

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's weird and kinda fun. ;P Super glad I'm not the only one calling that out, tbh though.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
That was pretty damn spooky, ngl.

I don't even do the "???" thing, usually.

But yeah, especially now "someone" *coughOPcough* is coming in trying to gaslight us with "But you read it wrong!" it's nice to know it wasn't just me.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, yea, me neither! It's like the Matrix version of deja vu: close, but not *quite* the same cause they went and changed something while you were distracted.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ahem, how to say this nicely... you think you've been circumspect about your judgmental approach, but unless your niece is dumb as a post, she's already picked up subtle hints from you about how you look at her, and her "odd" appearance, plus the slight whiff of victim-blaminess that you already acknowledge is there. It's going to be hard for her to trust you.

+1

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
So much this.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
you can still talk to your sister, though, and suggest some of the advice you saw here.
