Text: I’m acquainted with a couple of people in RL who are published authors (of vary levels of popularity, none of them would be considered “famous” however)

I’ve wanted to create works pages for some of their books

because I enjoyed them and I think other people should read them

I’m worried that doing it will somehow bite them in the ass and I’d never want that to happen

They're still around, they just post on anon if you couldn't tell by their posts~

It’s still great… it just doesn’t have the same OH JEGUS WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT that it used to

+1 to Madoka/Sayaka. (I haven't dipped my toes in the fandom quite yet aside from looking at fanart on Tumblr and Pinterest tbh.)

Text: I wish the Dragon Age fandom would stop trying to look for problematic elements where there are none, because some of their claims are just ridiculous. The Iron Bull is a rapist? Sera is abusive? What the fuck are you smoking?

I can see that. Wasn't there a hiatus between the third and fourth books? /didn't actually read the books until the fifth one came out.

...Basically, yes.

They did, although it wasn't strictly part of the Noon Universe and I'm not entirely sure it would rate as "clean" SciFi- although it's certainly cleaner and less industrial than most. Also not focused on cities.

I highly recommend it regardless, since it's one of my favorite novels of all time.

I felt like that was implied--that Scorpius and Albus would end up in the same house and become friends? It's been ages since I read it, but Albus was worried about becoming a Slytherin, until Harry told him it was a fine house (right?), which I thought seemed to be suggesting he'd probably wind up there along with Scorpius.

Re: Official-ish weekly FR thread!

Yeah, it's a little frustrating. What I'd suggest is, look for someone who's renting out level 25 dragons, then wait until you can afford to rent them for 3-4 days, Use those days to level up dragons to exalt, and if you do it enough (+selling the goodies you can get from areas like that) the rentals should pay themselves off + give you a cushion, depending on how often you can Coli.

Image: an arty washed-out picture of trees, with text:

“Nameless knew this time would come, but…

It was all too sudden of a parting.

Nameless looks up at the sky, despair and loneliness threatening to overcome them.

In the middle of the parade clamor, it felt as if a special silence had fallen over the spot they sat.

“I think I understand…”

Unable to pass into the next life for so long, she was finally able to find a moment of peace.

Were her last moments those of happiness?

AT least that final smile on her lips stands as proof to the lones left behind that she was content in her final moments.

Secret text: I didn’t expect that I would cry at this ending. I’m still a little baffled that a rouguelike hit me so hard.

To be fair, we see this world and all the people in it through Harry's eyes, who's not exactly an unbiased narrator.

Not that Draco doesn't come off as a complete spineless prick, but that doesn't mean there's a lot more to him we aren't seeing, or instances that seem cowardly that may have different consequences for Draco.

He's presented as very two-dimensional, so I feel like reading him for exactly what he's presented as is...idk, lazy? That's why I like reading fic involving him; no two are alike, and they're often very interesting with how they parse his inner workings.

[personal profile] loracarol 2015-01-24 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
That could be it, though I'll admit to agreeing with the anon that it doesn't seem very brave to me.

But then I realized that Vriska was about 13 (in human years) when she died, and Meenah was about 19 when she died, so unless ghosts keep aging in the dream bubbles, that means …

There was a 3 year wait for OotP, when before that a new book had been released every year. It was actually a pretty amazing time to be in fandom. Creativity exploded.

I didn't, actually, I was talking about Aria and Aqua. In a future where Mars has been colonized, and the ice caps melted, Neo-Venezia hires young girls to be gondoliers in Mars' many canals. It's cute, it's slice of life, and it's set in something that is, IMO, a nice view of the future. However, because it does take place in a future Venice-like setting, the amount of actual sci-fi elements are slim.

:/

Not to come off as one of those "judgemental" people, Tates... but you know I can't resist when someone has health information needs.

Actually if you are able to breast feed there are a great many positive health benefits- mainly in the quality of antibodies and other immune factors your baby will have for the period of time postnatally where (s)he is not yet able to produce them. It is very immunoprotective for a child throughout early development even to do so for just a little while. There is some research I have heard that suggests it also affects immune response later in life, but I would have to dig that up again to find out the theory there.

That said, nutritional adequacy for either method does not differ significantly, and a baby that is eating >>>>>>>> a baby that isn't eating. I'd still encourage breast feeding if you can tolerate it/sustain it, at least for a few weeks or months.

That's what I ended up doing, but it still kind of bummed me out because I normally like to go through as many dialogue trees as possible.

I see. Like I said, I didn't actually read the books until the fifth one came out (and my Aunt and Uncle gave me and my bros a full set, before that my Mum hadn't wanted us to read them, so we didn't have them in the house, and then Christmas came, lol, and she didn't fight it), so I didn't realize how much time had passed.
