frankly as someone who follows really really "sjw" people on tumblr and has been on both sides of the fence at varying points in my life , plebcomics doesnt get any of these issues accurate at all and she misses the point completely with every comic. her humor is terrible and hinges on a thought process that almost nobody takes.

the thing is, with actual "sjw" people who are really into social justice topics, they tend to know their place fairly well. like it or not, it's rare for the "crazy" sjws to speak outside of their social authority, ie. a white person who is as sjw-y as yall like to mock would never dream of speaking over black people, or any poc about poc-related issues. the people who talk about internalized racism as poc or recognize it in their own demographic. that's obviously not the case 100% of the time but it's way common enough to be considered the rule. these people know way better than plebcomics about race issues that affect them, since plebcomics is white. her stereotypes of various demographics are inaccurate (at best) and again, she misses the point in every single comic. not only doesnt she fallaciously come to her own conclusions about what "sjws" really think and believe, but she portrays specific groups in really inaccurate ways as well that are honestly offensive. for instance every trans person she depicts has short, unconventionally-dyed hair, hairy armpits, vague breast lumps, and is usually white. the only time trans people are depicted as PEOPLE rather than crazies foaming at the mouth is when they agree with her in the comic, which is a really dehumanizing way to differentiate groups of people.

what happened to her was questionable. plebcomics posted her own information online and dared people (quite literally dared them, i might add) to doxx her, which they did. i'm not sure what ppl were expecting. it wasn't the demographic that disliked her which caused the doxxing, it was the opportunity she provided and the fact that any human with a reasonable grasp of how the internet works could take her up on that dare. of course people did.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
also, pleb was fired, not just laid off, because enough people complained about her attitude that the company she worked for felt like she was a liability for her behavior. that seems reasonable to me. she posted the place she worked and their contact info and taunted people into calling her workplace, which also factored into her firing. she deserved that plain as day.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"she posted the place she worked and their contact info and taunted people into calling her workplace, which also factored into her firing. she deserved that plain as day."

You do realize how intensely fucked up that line of thinking is, right?

Or do you also think people who walk alone at night/wear short skirts/otherwise do things that "invite" trouble deserve what they get too?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt

is it really so fucked up that someone got fired for dragging their workplace into an online argument?

are you really going to compare that to rape?

lmao, I love that whenever someone says that someone brought something on themselves, no matter what it was, there's always one asshole who's like "oh, I bet you think some women deserve to be raped too right???" It's fucking stupid, but kind of funny

she got fired because her boss saw her unprofessionally dragging her workplace into inappropriate and offensive topics which inherently tied her company into her personal life. it's a common reason to fire people actually

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
+ as a survivor of rape id really like you and everybody else to stop fucking using rape as your tool in arguments in which rape isnt even a subject. rape and rape apologism are not fucking comparable to some stupid asshole harassing oppressed groups and then daring them to call her workplace.

+10000000000000

her strawmen are so glaringly terrible and inaccurate and that would be fine except that so many people fucking agree with them which is infuriating to a level i honestly never thought possible

anti-sjws are always going on about how sjws are just "white girls speaking over real minorities" but that's literally what she's doing by writing in those stupid "i agree with this statement!" transpeople, they represent no one but herself

It's kind of funny then if they're so inaccurate, since she quoted people almost verbatim in a lot of them.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
For real, I saw the comic used in the secret and went 'cool, good reminder not to speak over the top of WoC, will keep it in mind'.

Then I saw all the other comics and realised that she wasn't a WoC speaking out of frustration, but an anti-sjw literally putting word in the mouths of straw minorities and went 'ohhhhhhhhhhh'.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"ie. a white person who is as sjw-y as yall like to mock would never dream of speaking over black people, or any poc about poc-related issues"

Are you on a different, fantasy la-la-land internet to the rest of us, or...?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Fucking seriously.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
no. i told you, i used to be an anti-sjw, and you can say ive been a ~sjw~ in the past too. im in the real world. you guys have such a skewed perception of "sjws" and who speaks about what. white people who are as socially sensitive as you make fun of may speak on race issues but will NOT talk over poc on those issues. this is empirically true almost 100% of the time. but you are more than welcome to show me otherwise, if you think you can prove me incorrect (which you clearly think you can).

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
you are full of shit because I have HAD IT HAPPEN TO ME. i have HAD sjws speak over me and my own experiences.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
does anyone have the link to a bunch of ~socially sensitive~ dangan ronpa fans telling a japanese trans woman why she was wrong about chihiro's gender and eventually running her off the site

i'd dig it up, but i'm on mobile

Can you hear that rushing sound? That's me pissing myself laughing at what is possibly the honest to gods stupidest comment I ever seen on this site.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're confusing 'empirically' with 'anecdotally.'

Because there's plenty of empirical evidence out there that contradicts your viewpoint (do a search on a few of the examples in this thread if you want hard proof), and it's going to be pretty hard for you to prove that almost 100% empirical statement of yours.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
http://hedgehogula.tumblr.com/post/80253960733/just-a-short-3-image-story-about-keeping-it-real - the backstory behind this was a SJW believed that 8 year old boys could consent and manufactured a story about little boys gangraping a girl to "prove" their point that boys matured as a much earlier age and thus couldn't be raped? IDK it was super fucked up

the link people asked for about an Asian trans woman being chased off the site for disagreeing with fandom on trans issues - http://icylis.tumblr.com/post/98766160459/goodbye

also tumblr randomly accused a WOC of blackface causing her to get tons of death threats. - http://jhenne-bean.tumblr.com/post/99074696827/wendycorduroy-nikespookers-attention-this

That's just scraping the surface. Give me a little time with a few sites and I could drag out literally hundreds of times when tumblr talked over all kinds of oppressed people, or just hurt the people they were trying to help. There is a ton of feminists hating on and even saying slurs towards gay men and trans men. If you want receipts, I can get them. They even mocked gay men who were murdered for their sexuality.

And that's just tumblr. Historically, feminism talked over POC so much that black women felt the need to make Womanism, because they were tired of being told their needs could wait. SJWs talking over oppressed minorities have been happening as long as the first wave.

like it or not, it's rare for the "crazy" sjws to speak outside of their social authority, ie. a white person who is as sjw-y as yall like to mock would never dream of speaking over black people.

Except I know of at least half a dozen instances of this in my own circle within the past few weeks. It was happening on an hourly basis on Tumblr over Ferguson. It was happening over the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

It's pretty disingenuous and patronizing to behave as though this doesn't happen when you can damn well see it happening all the time.

Sorry if that doesn't fit with this delusional image you have of these perfect and angelic SJWs.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Not always. I've seen white bloggers say any slang is AAVE, and when a black person tells them they're wrong they go "Oh but my friend says this!". It's the new version of "but I have black friends" and it's really annoying when some ally turns it on you. Which happens on tumblr a lot.

Yeah, as someone who is neither USAmerican nor European (and whose major is East Asia), it's outright /amazing/ how US-centric most of the tumblr social justice is. Like they do not even understand that there is a world out there with different cultures where things might be DIFFERENT
