I feel like a lot of it is body language/context/etc. Like, you know she's a spy, so you know what to look for. But I bet she could make herself seem like an American housewife, or a French mechanic, or whatever with vocal and body cues.

Like, I never much bought in the movies that no one knows Clark Kent is Superman, but some comics artists like Quietly do a great job of completely changing the way he holds himself in and out of costume. Besides, who assumes your neighbor is a spy/superhero? They might get a few "Hey, you look kinda like so-and-so"....

Back in the 60s that would work. In today's world where there is facial recognition software, I highly doubt such distinctive looking people would be able hide. Especially famous ones.

Honestly? I don't think the Widow is much more "distinctive" for facial recognition software than your average Jane. She doesn't have any sort of weird face shape; she hasn't any deformities, either. I mean, yes, facial recognition software IS a problem for spies, but that's (mostly) not because they have -distinctive- looks.

Yeah, but in TWS she has that face-changing tech so...

I feel like real facial recognition softwares probably don't work as well as movies make you think they do. Like you'd need a good quality picture of the person with correct lightning for it to work.

I'm no expert, but yea, I imagine there's many cases where it isn't possible because of bad lighting, blurry images, the angle of the picture, etc.

If facial recognition isn't an issue then I imagine she can get around easy enough. (She is trained for this shit, so I'm sure she knows exactly what she needs to change to become unrecognizable.)

Plus, like anon above said, that face-changing tech would help a lot. (I doubt she has it on her person at all times, but still.)

Not from high-tech government agencies, but from laypeople like us, yeah, she'd still be able to hide.

Facial recognition software isn't as foolproof as you seem to think. If it were that easy, there'd be nobody on the FBI 10 most wanted list and we'd know who the hell DB Cooper was.

I think most secret identity spy movie stuff is harder to pull of convincingly the more our technology advances.

We just rewatched all the Bourne movies so we could watch the new Jeremy Renner one, and man. That original trilogy just could not be made today. Everybody with a cell phone would have had his picture, etc.

I agree with everyone's point that gifted people can change the way they carry themselves, etc., and that the internal logic of superhero franchises tells us that Clark Kent's glasses do indeed render him utterly different looking than Supes. But it's just harder and harder to believe as time goes on (for me anyway). This does not throw me out of the movie or make me unable to enjoy it; it's just one of those things that I suspend disbelief for.
