The insane backlash of the Steven Universe fans against the very notion of bronies "infiltrating" their program has convinced the guy behind Equestria Daily to scrap his plans to build a SU fansite.

They like to pretend they're better than bronies, but they're really not. They're every bit as insular, intolerant, and hateful to everyone that doesn't fit into their mold.

I just can't get over that these are grown-ass adults flipping out over children's cartoons.

I'm on the "Please, just leave SU alone" side having been on Brony forums, but honestly I haven't even seen most of the SU fandom having only caught up like two days ago. They not perfect, I'm sure.

One of those stories was complete shit, involving an 11 year old girl at a con who previously had her parents with her, but later on in the story her parents magically disappeared.

Even if it is true about the Brony that pursued her, not one person brought up how dangerous it was for the parents to leave their child unattended like that.

I've mostly seen people getting up in arms that guys are trying to make a special segment of fandom for themselves to pat their own asses. You don't need to fucking call yourself a "brogem" or "gemtleman." You don't need to make yourself a super special fucking nickname.

I only saw tumblr people calling them that until the horse news response to tumblr. I think this is a case of self-fufilling prophecy. I mean the trolls might have called themselves that anyway, but now you know they will.

I think the SU fandom was overreacting and reaching at best.

If Bronies were invading the SU fandom, they would have done it already. It's not like Bronies just got this hive mind light bulb idea to "invade" the FIM fandom on a whim.

I hate that I can't say this without being on Anon because I'll be labeled as some kind of Brony defender. I'm not. I just think the SU fandom needs to stop (pardon the pun) clutching at pearls.

Never heard of the show before today and have no interest in watching it (or MLP either.) I also can't say I'm really that crazy about Bronies. But I object on principle to one group of fans declaring a show "theirs" and aggressively trying to drive another group away from it.

Maybe it's because these children's cartoons had the prefect set of fun, danger, intrigue, and open spaces for fan constructs that it becomes supremely popular with grown adults? I know I had my share of fanboy-ness when Phineas and Ferb was the most popular thing.

But never heard of Steven Universe before, mainly due to the cartoon channels being cut off from our cable service. Is it any good?

It's honestly really stupid drama, I know and understand why people hate bronies but the fact that the SU fans are trying to control fandom at all or think they get to decide who likes what is ridiculous.

Fandom has always had fans you don't want to involve yourself with and sections that are creepy. The best way to deal with it is ignore it because it's not going to fucking go away, it's always been there.
