I've abandoned this show right after s3's season finale, but I can say that there's some good/decent acting in it:

The actors for Neal/Bae (both the grown up and the kid), Rumple/Gold, Regina, Ruby (though she's been having her talents go to waste lately, since the writers aren't focusing on her anymore), Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, Cora, Jefferson, Graham, August and if this is OUAT Wonderland, Jafar, are all good actors and acted pretty well on this show (though Rumple can be over the top, but that's his character).

The worst ones and I hate to say this, are Emma (she's really such a flat character, IMO and not a favorite protagonist. She lacks a spine. Sad, because I know Jen Morrison can do better and her talents are going to waste here, IMO. There are moments she can shine though, but that's only rare), Belle (she's pretty to look at and she does have a backbone, but I feel that the writers aren't letting Emilie shine more and I know Emilie does have talent, but she's not showing it to her potential, due to poor directing/writing. Belle's my favorite character though.), Killian, Zelena, Snow and David. Henry gets a free pass, because he's a kid (though he's obviously hitting puberty as the seasons progresses).

Aw. I really liked the Frozen section in spite of not thinking it would be good. And I'm liking this section too. Basically, season 4 trumps season 2-3 by a whole lot.

I'm the same. I thought I would hate the Frozen storyline, but it was actually well-done and I enjoyed it a lot. Of course, it helped that I started shipping Emma and Elsa really hard... The second half of season 4 isn't half bad either; certainly better than season 3!

I haven't watched any of season 4, but I'm still in the fandom. Even though I've never seen Frozen and would prefer to avoid it as long as possible (thanks, roommate and roommate's friends for singing and playing every single fucking song over and over until I wanted to stab my eardrums with an icicle), Elsa and co. still made more sense than Cruella de Vil. The villain roster includes heart-ripping rapists and possessed chessmaster wizards and monster mothers and demonic children and bullying sociopaths and obsessive jealous witches and ... a woman wearing an enormous mutant skunk coat whose claim to fame is attempted puppy murder.

AYRT--Who'd they be related to and how did Rumple screw them over? Maybe EVE's locked up in a display cabinet someplace?

But honestly, the main reason I quit watching is Rumple's flashbacks feel sad and pointless now; imp Rumple's schemes all centered around his son. Watching Rumple manipulate people for someone the audience knows is dead ripped the heart out of OUAT, for me; ramping up the soap opera plots and Disney promotions just finished it off.

(And thanks to whatever behind the scenes shit went down, Bae's basically the only main character guaranteed to stay dead; in much the same way that Rumple's the only character who couldn't travel between worlds on a whim.)

I stopped watching when it went more Disney than fairy tales in general, and I don't regret that at all. We all have our limits with that show, OP.

From the little I saw of that season they just recycled Frozen's plot for OUAT, yes? It's okay, OP. I used to do the same before I pretty much forced myself not to watch it. Same with Glee. You just HOPE it'll get better and then it doesn't.

Actually, no. At least, as far as I could tell, since I'm one of the few who haven't seen "Frozen".

Mild spoilers ahead!

Elsa has spent who-knows-how-long inside a magic urn, and when she is released, we find out she is seeking Anna, who disappeared on a quest to find out exactly what happened to their parents. Anna finds the answers, but the journey back is not without danger and includes running into other OUAT characters along the way, back before Snow and Charming were an item in the Enchanted Forest.

Meanwhile, Elsa is in Storybrooke, and come to find out, she's not the only one with in town with ice powers.

I actually loved the fact that they drew in the "real" Snow Queen from fairy tales, and I enjoyed the arc as a whole.

Text: I hate that they tied Frozen into OUAT. I hate that good acting keeps tricking me into believing they won’t use soap opera style character development undoing for a lack of story ideas on how to continue the stupid story.

But most of all, I hate myself for trying to give this show a chance again and again.

Cruella de Vil and Meleficent finally showing up like they promised aaaalmost made me fall for it again. Come on, self!

I really liked the Frozen arc, more than I expected to. And I really loved all the actors involved, particurly Georgina Haig. I was really disappointed when the end of the arc sent everyone back, though I'm hoping we'll see them again. The bond between Elsa and Emma was really great (probably the first time I've really liked Emma).

And while Cruella having powers is very weird and confusing, Victoria Smurfit is absolutely wonderful in the role.

So yes, lots of great acting on this silly, silly show.

I agree with you. Georgina made a great Elsa and I loved her friendship with Emma.

Having Cruella on this show makes zero sense but I don't care because she's fabulous. I can't wait for her backstory.

I am still watching and I really don't know why. It's like a car crash. Cruella is quite fun though and I thought Kristin has been pretty good.
