Media that surprised you emotionally?

I was listening to a podcast today (The Truth) that focuses on short stories. Usually funny, creepy, or dramatic ones. But today one of the stories, You Are Not Alone, had me in tears at work. It was so heartwarming, I immediately re-listened to it. Needless to say, I did not expect to be in tears at work from listening to a 15 minute podcast!

What is a game/movie/show/story that surprised you with how much it affected you emotionally?

Big Hero Six. Man, I cried several times during that movie - and I almost never do.

Omg, same. I knew it might make me emotional, but just the way they handled Hiro's grief was so upsetting to me, I cried harder than I have at a movie in a while.

I don't know if EXCITED AS FUCK is an emotion but I started getting into the WWE and I'm all over that shit and having so many feels about everything.

Pretty much anytime Saras_girl writes about Fred Weasley's death, it brings a tear to my eye. She's the only fan author that can always make my involuntarily shed a tear just by mentioning Fred's death or how the Weasley's handled it.

I got REALLY into WWE for 2-3 years. I was into it when Eddie Guerrero died and I cried when he did.

And yeah, I used to get really fucking excited about certain matches and pairs.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a really good movie! What got you emotionally about it?

Halo's story looks pretty epic to me. I'd love if I could just see some kind of movie version of the game storyline.

Old-school game: Marathon 2.

First time a game ever gave me an intense emotional experience. I still remember it vividly.

I've said this before but recently I was so surprised how much I cried at the end of TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast. Considering how blah I found the TinkerBell before that and this one focused on Fawn, who has never been my favorite, I was blown away by this movie.

The ending just gutted me. I lent it to my brother for his kids, and he called to tell me I was a jerk because it made all of them cry too. :)

The intro to the game Ori, The SilentForest. Holy shit, tears streaming beautiful and sad, even as I'd never even heard off the game before I watched the intro.

I was expecting Wolfenstein: The New Order to be dumb fun.

I mean, it was that, but it was also really dark as fuck with a depressing ending. Wasn't expecting that.

Drama, pathos, drowning a Nazi in his own pee: 10/10 would play again.

Recently? The end of Yurikuma. Specifically, I did not expect a hug between a random girl and a half-cyborg bear to make me start crying.

Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast.

I wasn't expecting to like it a much as I did. But I loved what they did with Fawn's character and the new ones that showed up were great too.

The ending was a punch to the gut though and then I found out that because of sales, it's going to be the last film in the Tinkerbell movie lines. That made the ending even more fucking depressing to me.

Welcome to Night Vale. Never knew a podcast show would make me scream out loud while I'm driving!

The new Cinderella movie. Surprisingly earth-rooted, No bombastic magic (barring the carriage scene)... I think that's why I liked it better than the other recent Disney remakes. Also, I've been trying to get the main actress' rendition of "Lavender's Blue, dilly dilly..." out of my head for a while now.

When I was a kid I spent hours watching my brother play the Homeworld games: I looked up some cutscenes recently and was surprised by how effective they are. The intro remastered have me the tinglies!
