Fandom will put slash subtext where there is none. MCUdrones will turn any pairing into an accessory pairing to Stony regardless of whether the fandom is Marvel, or even comics. A/B/O coffee shops are not going away.

The only way to stop fandom from doing what it wants with a property is to withhold the property entirely.

Not really. Depending on the fic, the characters involved have a) talked about contingency plans, b) were already in a relationship, or c) have retrograde amnesia about the entire thing. The dubcon version of sex pollen exists and is probably more popular, but it isn't inherent in the trope anymore than dubcon is inherent to the a/b/o trope. It's just an occasional bonus for people who like it.

dubcon =/= rape. we've been over this. many times. dubcon exists in this murky area between consent and rape that only exists in fantasy, and a lot of people like it.

IT IS A FICTIONAL WORLD DESIGNED AROUND THAT BEING THE CASE

it's not like this is a case where people are writing a world that's meant to be ours where, coincidentally, dominance and power is continually linked to a specific sexual role. it's a whole concept meant for playing around with the connection between power and sexuality. which is hardly a new thing for god's sake.
