Fandom will put slash subtext where there is none. MCUdrones will turn any pairing into an accessory pairing to Stony regardless of whether the fandom is Marvel, or even comics. A/B/O coffee shops are not going away.

The only way to stop fandom from doing what it wants with a property is to withhold the property entirely.

I want them to take over when cherik ends (aka when the actors leave and Fox moves on to other x-men). if there's a couple that deserves a cult following, it's cablepool, and they're much more canon than most slash ships.

Never read this in particular, but isn't Deadpool horrifically deformed under his mask? I'm pretty sure I've seen pages with art like that, and if that's the case in canon...why aren't you more worried about the Snape effect, where people only ship them when prettied up, than those particular tropes?

Deadpool's level of hideousness varies wildly depending on who's drawing him. Sometimes he looks the lovechild of Freddy Krueger and an overcooked pizza, and sometimes he just looks like he has bad acne.

And I seem to recall there was also a storyline where he was temporarily cursed to look like Tom Cruise, so there's that.

Bishification is a serious problem, it's true. Sandor Clegane, whose face in canon looks like a cross between Freddy Krueger and a prolapsed asshole, is commonly depicted as looking like a male model with a splotch of ketchup on one perfect cheekbone.

Deadpool is actually supposed to look like Ryan Reynolds but with hideous tumor ridden skin. He's said so himself, long before the movie was a thing that had a cast.

It's just so funny to see you get so butthurt because people are having fun in fandom in ways you don't approve.

My god, I loathe A/B/O and it creeps me the hell out but I don't give a shit what other people do.

Great thing about that "migratory slash fandom" is that even though 99% of what it produces is shit, there's still that 1% that's really, really good. And given the volume produced, that usually means that by sheer numbers there's a lot more great fic, even if you have to sift through mountains of excrement.

But Jesus, god forbid someone enjoy something you like in a manner you don't agree with.

I'm not a member of the migratory slash fandom (would this be a better name for a rock band or a species of bird?), but i would love to see said fandom infect Deadpool, only for Deadpool to, in his best fourth wall-breaking fashion, proceed to mock the shit out of it like he does everything else. So when the hoard of migratory slashers moved on, they took random speech bubbles and bizarre non-sequiturs with them as essential parts of the fandom experience. Coffee shop AUs and A/B/O and disgusting weird jokes...

Text: Part of me wants this to get a film adaptation with all the slashy subtext intact, but part of me dreads the fandom upswing that would inevitably follow.

I can see it now: the Migratory Slash Fandom descending like a swarm of locusts, flooding the tags on AO3 and tumblr with A/B/O, coffee shop AUs, generic OOC fluff, and since it’s Marvel, shitting XMFC and/or crossovers where Cable & Deadpool are a ‘side pairing” basking in the blandly OOC glory of Charik or Stony or whatever.

I’ve seen it happen with way too many ships in way too many fandoms over the past two years, I don’t want it to happen to these two. :(
