Dude, it is not socially acceptable for a guy to say he likes lesbian porn in almost any situation, besides maybe hanging out privately with his bros. Socially acceptable? I mean you know what that means, right?

Though I'm with you on the "mainstream" thought doesn't have any thought that women might like slash in the same way. But then again, women liking porn at all is still a mostly unacknowledged thing.

Anyway, I think it's about the type of friend. I have girl friends where we brag about how big our poops were, in those close, nothing's-sacred type friendships porn is definitely a possible topic. But then I have girl friends who we don't have that banter, doesn't mean we're not close, but it's not how our conversations work, so I wouldn't just bring up something like that.

So in short, I think it depends on the friend, but I'd wager this is true of guy friends, too. Though if I were to take an uneducated guess, I can see how "male youth culture" might be more encouraging to guys to talk about things like sex and porn with one another than it is for girls.

Once I went out to drinks with some female co-workers and they pulled up porn on their phones to show me some scene where this girl gets some hardcore eye-cum facial and I was freaking out because WE ARE WATCHING PORN WHILE NOT SOBER ON A CROWDED RESTUARANT PATIO AT MIDNIGHT and I was worried about getting kicked out or arrested for PI or idenciencu or something like that and they are all "you are such a prude, Fingal."

I'm like the least prudish person, but really. If you wanna watch porn or talk about it, I'm game, but not out in public, please.

But OP wasn't saying it was -- just that guys liking girl-on-girl is more socially acceptable, which let's face it, it is. Seriously, qualifiers change meanings. Saying one thing is more acceptable than another thing doesn't necessarily imply that it is, in fact, widely acceptable... because degrees. Otherwise we're just splitting hairs for no reason.

There are different kinds of shock. The average person might be aware that some guys watch lesbian porn, but I'd think that's a negative image, not an "acceptable" one. like some guys pick their noses, some guys don't wash their hands after wanking, some guys watch lesbian porn. That is in no way "acceptable".

Someone might be surprised if a woman said she liked gay porn, because it's not something that comes up often, but I seriously doubt that would illicit more social backlash than a guy who said he liked lesbian porn in the exact circumstances.

That was the scariest lesbian sex scene ever. Maybe it's because I'm not into lesbian sex (I'm a gay man so I'm all about dicks) but, in that movie, I knew their sex scene was nothing but trouble. But that movie was fucking brilliant.

If you just throw porn out of the conversation and make it PG-13, you'd see the OP's point. Guys liking the thought of two hot girls making out? Definitely a thing, part of pop culture even, I'd be surprised you've never encountered references to it in mainstream media. Girls being into guy-on-guy? That is now becoming a thing but still way less common and more likely to elicit eyebrows and "ewwww" from idiots who decide that, now that dicks are involved, it's suddenly gay!

(The reason we need to throw porn out of the conversation is because porn itself is still controversial and "shameful" regardless of who's watching it... but even then, people generally assume it to be a thing men do.)
