Oh FFS, it's fandomsecrets. One of the reasons people make secrets is because they know it's irrational and a lot of times half the crap in the image is hyperbole anyway.

How do you function on the internet when you are this confused about how a secrets site works?

You suggested they can't function in the real world because they made a secret venting about something they know is irrational (I guess you've never ever ever in your entire life had a single irrational thought or been annoyed by something that objectively wasn't a big deal. You are a magical being who has evolved beyond us mere mortals). they're using this site for its intended purpose.

I know it's a joke. I know it's ~irony~, I get it dude. But sometimes the atmosphere really feels like you cannot like it unironically, and it bugs me.

I'm ok with the occasional ~ironic~ self-depreciating term (hell, even I have used some a few times) but lately it seems some people use it for everything and can't stop putting down their own interest.
At that point it doesn't seem like a joke anymore.

If they don't think it's trash, then don't call it trash.

Sometimes I see people say a certain ship is trash, and I can't tell if they are bashing the ship or just doing that self-depreciation bullshit. Most of the time it's someone bashing a ship they hate.

Someone calling themselves shipping trash is not as bad, but when you call the whole ship trash it's implying others should also be ashamed of it.

In my experience it's the total opposite. I was in a very toxic fandom when it came to shipping wank recently, and the only people using 'trash' were the ones who shipped the thing they called trash.

It might be different for your fandoms, but in that case you could also argue that people are calling themselves/their ship trash first so as to preempt those who would use the term for hating or bashing.
