Some people are visual, clearly you are the opposite. Not all that weird!

Mmmmm.

...

Hundreds and thousands.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like butts, and that's a cute one.

I like hundreds and thousands.

I appreciate the use of them in this photograph to add texture and colour to what otherwise would be a pretty generic shot.

That said, it looks uncomfortable. I don't feel so hot about hundreds and thousands ON my butt.

Pretty normal anon!

It's a little weird, but so's everyone. Rock on.

Who's bum is that?

A lot of people into BDSM are horrible.

[personal profile] chardmonster 2015-04-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
(Because a lot of people are horrible in general)

This goes for porn audiences and creators, too. So what you're seeing in porn might be completely awful and exploitative, because it's either made by awful and exploitative people or for an audience that generally likes seeing awful and exploitative things.

This gets really important when you're talking about BDSM, because it makes someone so much more vulnerable. Example: It's gotten to the point where I probably wouldn't date a dude who describes himself as "dominant" or "a dom" because I know from personal experience and the experience of others that there's a very good chance that he's a shitty person and he uses being "a dom" as an excuse to be shitty to women. If all their fetishes are about hurting or demeaning women you probably don't want to be with him, even if you're into being hurt or demeaned. Obviously not everyone's like that but you do what you need to to feel safe.

However, fiction or fanfic often isn't like that, for two reasons. First, you might have a context for the characters; you know Dom Character actually likes Sub Character. You know Sub Character's actually into it.

On the other hand, it might be awful and exploitative stuff! But it's still not happening to a real flesh and blood person. So it doesn't feel bad.

In short: there's nothing to feel weird about here. You do what you like.

Usually I find you come across as a bit condescending tbh, but this comment has made me entirely re-evaluate you as a human being.

Yeah, there's fiction that makes 50 Shades look like an afternoon with Mr. Rogers. (Some of it written by an ex.)

Yeah, this is pretty much spot-on.

Speaking as someone who is a switch and currently in a D/s relationship where I am the domme, yes to all of this. Someone announcing they're a dominant or dom right out the gate is pretty much a red flag for me, because of much the reason you've said. Excepting discussions about BDSM that come up naturally in learning more about what each other likes, or a specific "what are you into" type discussion. And dear gods if it's online and they insist on using capital letter D, or, gods, insists on calling themselves a Dominate, RUN.

Dominate makes me think of someone who laminates things in a very domineering way.

I can relate, I don't like live-action porn very much at all and I am really, really picky about what I'll watch. But with written porn I'll give anything a go so long as I enjoy how it's written. But I figure I'm just not much of a visual person when it comes to that.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Same here.

I think this is pretty common in fandom, and amongst women. Not that many women don't enjoy visual porn too, but I think this is not a coincidence overall.

Maybe if more live action porn was designed FOR women, I'd enjoy it.

The exception seems to be, for me, guys getting gay massages. I'll watch that all day long.

Gay massages?

Not to worry, OP.

I'm watching enough problematic porn for both of us.

A lot of porn is brilliant in the ways it can make the most wonderful fun look bad.

I think this is pretty common... Some people would rather read porn than watch it, some would rather watch, some enjoy both, etc. Not sure why but everyone's different and as long as you enjoy yourself it's all good.

It's okay, that's normal.

Image: naked butt with … sprinkles on it?

Text: I can’t watch almost all mainstream porn.

A lot of it is WAYY too kinky for my tastes and even gifs of people’s butts getting man-handled in on gentle ways makes me uncomfortable.

But I can get EXTREMELY kinky with the fic I read

I read a BDSM threesome fic that featured double penetration and fisting. (I also thought the characterization was spot on, but still)

I have so many kinks that mainly apply to fic only. Is this weird?

Could be all sorts of reasons for that.

I know it's not the same, but I have a hard time watching gory/violent scenes, and yet my tolerance for what I can read is much higher. I think it's something to do with the level of control involved - when you're reading something, you sort of decide how much or how graphically you want to visualise it, but when it's on the screen and it's just kind of happening in your face it can be a bit too much.

Also, when you're reading a fic, there is more in the way of characterisation, emotion, and tension - without those, sometimes the acts themselves can lose a lot of their appeal, hence why regular visual porn can be a turn-off.

/my 2 cents

(Anonymous) 2015-04-25 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think well-written fic is a great way to explore a kink for that very reason. Porn can be overwhelming and it's not geared to a viewer who may actually care about the people involved, or want to, but fic by its nature is more sensitive. I look at porn and read fic, and I think I would look at fic exclusively if I could find enough of it to meet my needs.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-26 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Most porn is not that great and can be kind of cringe-y to watch. So I can see why you're drawn to fic rather than real-life porn, I'm pretty much the same way.
