There's something very jarring about those hyperbolic descriptions of a character's attractiveness you get in some fics. Hearing Ellen Ripley described as a 'luscious creature', for example, just feels very odd to me.

Sadly it was femslash where one character called the other character's vaginal area delicious and it supposedly tasted like dripping honey

Idk I've had sex with people I thought tasted really good. I don't know if it's hormones or what, but I'd describe the taste of some people as delicious.

Especially when we're getting this over-the-top run down of a character's hotness/beauty/sexiness/whatever during some crisis or something.

*blood*
*EMT rushes in*

X looked up from trying to pinch off his own artery to see the most amazing creature!! The eye-orbs, like sparkling diamond-saphhire-emeralds! The mouth, like luscious pink-red-satin-candy! As the EMT bend down, his shirt popped out of his trousers and X could see the cute little dimples over his ass....!!!

I mean. Really?

Actually, if he's bleeding out at the time, I could buy him thinking all sorts of weird things. Generally yes, though, those descriptions always seem to pop up at bizarre moments. If you're in the middle of a red-alert security breach and the exhausted person facing you has a gun to your head, I doubt their shining orbs and luscious curves are going to be the first things on your mind. The gun to your head is probably more of an immediate concern.

Exactly. I just cannot stand that 'X sees Y and instantly categorizes their looks/everything about them/lusts after them'. That might work in some situations but not in *every single first meeting ever*.

It depends on the character for me. If it fits the character (or if they are actively trying to be attractive and seduce people) then it doesn't bother me. But otherwise I agree.
