I kind of get what you mean. I love Steve Rogers (in the movies, never read the comics), but don't really care for Chris Evans himself.

It's not really about his intelligence though (although I sort of agree on that point as well), but more like his... personality in general? Ngl, I find it kind of off-putting. He seems very fake and over the top in interviews and public appearances (the way he reacts to other people, the way he laughs, etc). I've heard it's a side effect of the anxiety meds he takes, but I don't know enough about him to know if that's true.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1) He's an actor. For 99% of celebs what you see if a front for interviews and public appearances 2) He does have anxiety so he is likely uncomfortable

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
but by that argument you could say that we shouldn't decide whether or not we like celebrities personally at all since we don't know them personally

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. I mean, you can but it would probably be better to go by their actiosn than how they act in interviews.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'd actually completely agree with that, haha. It really creeps me out when people are overly insistent/defensive about their real people crushes, in general.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
You're saying it like it's not true. All we know of celebs is their public front for interviews.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm aware that actors put up a public front. Difference is, most of them aren't as off-putting and annoying to me as Chris Evans'.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Tbf, Chris Evans is kind of a shitty person in general. And I say this as a shameless fangirl.

He's a walking definition of mediocre, only he spent his formative years being told by his overbearing stage mother he was talented because he could yell his lines, and therefore, be understood. Add to that connections and being a white male, and he's been thrown acting roles and even directorial jobs that he's really not skilled enough for. Then you've got the weird, possessive way his hometown protects his playboy ways and Mommy Evans still directing his life...so he's got to maintain, to a point, that Adorable Dudebro image if he wants the fame/women/et all, only he's not actually that bright. Cue the stupid shit he's been saying for years. But, again, white male + connections + an intelligent stage mother = no real downfall. Ever.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
NA

I wouldn't say he's shitty exactly. Only very mediocre-ly normal and exactly what you'd expect from every other dudebro? Not any more terrible than anyone else which isn't much to say

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He's quite shitty. It's unintentional and possibly he doesn't even realize how often he's a dick, but he's definitely above average, for normal possession of assholish tendencies.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...How does any of that make him a shitty person?

If he wants to have casual sex, how is that bad? I doubt he leads anyone on that they're going to have a relationship.

Plus...a lot of things you're describing are things he can't help or that were done TO him, not by him.

He can't help being born a white male with an overbearing stage mom with connections. Or a protective hometown.

It doesn't make him a particularly GOOD person, mind you, but you seem really upset by rather innocuous shit.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Like, do you actually know him personally

that's a serious question, because that's a really deep read on him

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got dirt.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Uh huh.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know he's the product of an over-bearing stage mother? I'd like to hear more about that. And in what ways is she directing his life? And what kind of connections do the Evanses have to Hollywood? Which dark secrets is his home town hiding? So many questions...

(Anonymous) 2015-05-29 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Lisa Evans: couldn't make it to the big time. Fades off and tries to live through her kids. Between Carly, Chris, and Scott, Chris was the one easiest to mold into an acceptable public image. There's political connections, there's old tv/movie former connections of Lisa's. Lots of "leg up" shots. Chris loves the perks of being a celebrity enough to put with the hard shit. Except, to keep that, he has to play along, do as Lisa says. Put up a front of wanting a stay at home wife, be a player while he's still young, stop dating woc (he was very into them until he got famous enough that he was told to stick to white women), rough house as much as he wants with other guys but don't do anything too "bi" because the family already has a gay son, that's Scott's role, just like Carly's role is mother/acting teacher. I'm not sure if they consider the youngest a lost cause or what since she's never been pulled into anything more difficult than dutiful baby sister.

Scott's current assignment is taking the fall whenever Chris fucks ups and gets too obvious with his cocaine usage. By orders of Lisa Evans. Sad, sad situation. The family puts up with it because Chris is only still where he is because of her, and if Chris isn't earning the fame and money, the family won't get shit.

I read that as Lily Evans first and then a giant weird Harry Potter crossover spawned in my mind.

So did you get all this from National Enquirer or Weekly World News?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Not really dark secrets. He's a huge whore, despite his comments, doesn't want a wife and kids, just wants to fuck around forever, and his Massachusetts hook ups, many many many, are willing to keep quiet for him and let him do as he likes so long as he keeps talking lovingly of Sudsbury and Boston.

Lol source?
Like sorry but without any details on how exactly he's super shitty, it's hard to take you serriously. I can't help but pass you off as some random anon who has a weird huge hate bonner against him.

I've read this fanfic!

Oh man, a city-level conspiracy to keep one mediocre white man famous, and somehow it's not about politics. Go on, anon, this is good stuff. What specific dirt have you got on the man himself, though, because I'm not hearing anything concrete. What's he do? Lie? Cheat? Hit people? Borrow money and not return it?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-30 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
You say that but you see pics of him behind the scenes cleaning the set and passing out bottled water to crew and.....
