What original characters have you created for your fandoms?

I created a town prostitute once for Friday Night Lights, lol. And now anyone reading this who was in that particular fandom at that particular time probably knows who I am.

Almost never fandom OCs. I do AU almost every character into a pokemon trainer though lol

I made a Labyrinth backstory where Jareth was originally human. I gave him a mother, father, older brother, and then a pseudo-adoptive family... and then I killed all of them off horribly.

so, so, SO many

my favorite right now is a lawyer OC for MCU who worked with SHIELD handling prosecution of their enemies/gifteds/whoever and deals with all of the handling that comes with superhero/villain induced property damage/injuries.

she's just a regular human, but I like her perspective in a world of superheros

I tend to make up extended families. Recently, I made a huge family for Thranduil, including a sister, mom, daughter, grandmother, aunt, and their assorted husbands, children, etc.

Gungan waifu.

Working on a sequel to a Ryan/Esposito Castle fic that includes a fleshing out of an OC briefly mentioned in the original. She saw the chemistry and tried to talk Esposito into a threesome with Ryan when Esposito was still in major denial about his feelings. It didnt happen. Now it will and along the way Esposito will overcome his last mental hurdle surrounding sex with men (ie Esposito gives his first blow job).

I'm really digging this character because she loves friends and she loves sex and she loves sex with friends but isn't really interested in romantic partnering.

When I was seven I made a zelda oc who was a kokiri girl named Emma who could also turn into a zora, and she and link had to go on a quest together to save fairies. Good times.

I have a bunch of gijinka Pokémon OCs, if that counts, since they're based on Pokémon I've had in-game. I also have a Digimon gogglegirl OC, because we need one Digimon series where the main character is a girl, damn it.

What fanfic I used to do was primarily within RPG worlds where I'd write about what was happening elsewhere in the world. I put a minor bit of pre-production work into a BGII companion mod. Before I burned out on Bioware entirely, I had a "Shore Leave" series that involved Mass Effect companions doing stuff off the ship. I kicked around a post-ME3 series centered on various races in the Battle for Earth trying to rebuild with a handful of cast members. (Quarians, Turians, and Geth take over Mars. Samara ends up the only surviving matriarch in the system. That's about as far as I got.) But that whole scene turned toxic real quick and I bailed.

Disposable villains, mostly.

All my other OCs are literally OCs, i.e. non-fandom, just for original-fic stuff (and I still forget that talking about your OCs with fandom people conjures up a whole different thing in their minds compares with talking about your characters with other original fic writers).

None. I don't do OC's. And they have to not take over the canon characters in order for me to like them in fic.

Slack Tide: a unicorn athlete with a broken horn. She wears her mane long to pass as an Earth pony. She's not very developed--I used her as more of a vehicle to build Rainbow Dash.

Spank Bank: a devoted fan of My Little People. He posts on Marechan about it, browses Snookibooru for adorable pictures of humans cuddling, and longs to someday meet (and have sex with) a human of his very own. It doesn't end well for him.

Peaceful Rest: a shy gravedigger with a reverence for history. She's a unicorn, but she still hasn't developed any magic related to her talent.

Petite Mort: a traveling odd-jobs mare with a perverted sense of humor. She loves to control and toy with other people, getting them to feel whatever she wants them to feel. She always wears clothing that hides her cutie mark.

I don't do fandom OCs. If I need to create a character for a fic I try to keep that character's scenes brief.

Uhhhh. Let's see. Oh, wow. Just one. For the WWE fandom I've written Jamie Noble's mom (who just goes by Mama).

I have a tyvian witch and her wolfhound, the carve bonecharms and runes for people on the blackmarket. Some are benign and some are not. She hands around in the hunting seasons in Tyvia killing the bears and seals for their bones then travels down to winter over in dunwall.

Still tossing up if she finds a child one hunting trip. She's soft to children, tried to rescue one once and failed. She'll go all bonecharm witch on your ass if she discovers you hurt children.

Uh, a couple of boyfriends for the mostly-unattached-in-canon main character?

I have a Heroes OC who can absorb and project emotions. Her employers (a sort of offshoot/rebel faction of Primatech) used her as a combination cheaper-than-therapy means of keeping their agents moderately sane and as a way to subdue hostiles and captives.

Does it count if they're the player character? If so, I've got a Jedi with PTSD, who tries to live by "do what is right, not what is easy." (Also a Shepard, but I haven't written that one yet at all.)

I also have a shopkeep, who I had intended to be a relatively small role to fill in some gaps in another character's backstory, but who ends up being the one who delivers the kick in the pants to get some subplots moving. He's a lot of fun to write, because his perspective is so wildly different than everyone else's, and he's got this very dry sense of humor.

Just comic relief for stories where the original comic relief is not available or they have a rotating comic relief of the week, spare villains of the week, and living scenery and props. That is what OCs are for, anything seriously important and canon characters are what you need to use and what people mostly turn up for. Save the main character OCs for Original Fiction.

I play WoW. OCs are kind of a staple. :P

I have one slight Mary Sue though and I unashamedly LOVE this about her and the staunch lore RPers can suck it: She's a draenei hunter who caught the eye of Varian during the Shieldwall bit of Pandaria, though he'd been sort of aware of her even back during the Lich King campaign.

I had turian and salarian Spectres, and an asari C-Sec detective for 'Mass Effect'. Rarely ever use or draw them anymore.

I had created a bunch of "fan Lanterns" for Green Lantern -various members of the Emotional Spectrum, including a male Star Sapphire for some ungodly reason-, but I've pretty much "killed" them off for good by filing off the serial numbers completely, and reusing them for my non-fandom/original fiction projects.

And tbh, I'm pretty much over creating fan characters. Half because it gets to a point where I realize that they'd be better served without the "fandom glass ceiling", and half because I've had people attempt to co-opt them on various occasions (i.e. I had an F-Zero fan character that a former friend tried to co-opt for her In Name Only fan fiction, so I discreetly filed off the fandom serial numbers and they backed off a short while later. Then I had an ex-friend in the Green Lantern fandom constantly guilt trip me about not drawing/using my FCs enough, among other things). It just wasn't worth it anymore. Plus, I've really begun to find an incredible (if selfish) satisfaction in creating stuff from scratch to play around with in my own "sandbox", so to speak, so I've moved on to creating non-fandom OCs now*.

* The only exception I've made is my toons in TOR, because I don't RP them with people and since it's an MMO, that sort of thing is par for the course, lmao. So I can kinda just do my own shit in the Star Wars sandbox and nobody ever bats an eyelash at me.
