Why are so many New Yorkers the most self involved?

This sounds mean, but genuinely from all the major cities I've been to they're the ones who are most obsessed with how special they are. More directly, as someone in the vicinity but not directly a resident of New York, what's your thoughts on the city?

I have a degree in microbiology (specializing in virology/immunology).

I have a graduate degree in history.

I was a competitive swimmer for almost a decade.

I'm beginning to think I'm borderline autistic. And not in a special snowflake, Tumblr way, but rather that things I've worried about for decades fit a lot of the symptoms for autism in women.

Hm. Bio... Bio...graphy... Let's see...

So I'm a two-time college dropout. Went from meandering around a compsci major to east Asian studies to figuring out I'm actually bad at school, and realising I was way ill-suited for an office assistant credential (lesson: research, and don't assume anything will do for a job).

Despite being talented at wasting time and money on these, I have managed to stay debt free even having paid my own way through the magic of job hopping through customer service, but more to do with moving back home lbr. Merchandising, cashier, photo lab, barista, mail stuff, grocery clerk, call centre, pizza call centre, reception. Currently on a graveyard merchandising run, so I will be getting my own place soon enough.

I speak el Español like an asshole gringo, not that actual asshole gringos would know, and I love the sound of my own voice. I have a mostly positive outlook on my own life, but I vacillate between extroverted introversion and resting bitch face.

Eurgh. I should have just written a blog.

I'll answer almost anything, but questions regarding sex will probably have very boring answers, so you might want to pick something else if that's your gimmick. :P
