We are in some of the same fandoms (but I'm not active in comms, you've most likely never seen me around). :D But, yeah, it's not about them commenting in my LJ at all- I just wish they would at least try to converse with me when I comment on their LJs. I'm not very good at holding AIM conversations and I have tried...just some didn't go so well. ._.;;
But even if you don't comment you at least speak to your friends one way or another and that's amazing. :) I respect that! You sound very sweet.

4: I know how you feel T_T I've got like one close fandom friend (although I wouldn't think of it as a friendship based around fandom any more), but it sometimes seems like everyone's omgbff. I guess all you can really do is keep trying? You're probably more remembered than you think.

7: Aww. I feel bad for making Harmony jokes now. It really sucks when a small group of fans make an entire ship look ridiculous, and it's not like H/Hr is absolute crack out of nowhere, either.

I'm awfully shy, too. So even when I comment on their LJs it takes a lot for me just to work up something to say, but I do it because I want to make friends. Especially when they need help...I really want to help.

4. Welcome to my world. Hell...what you said could've been my words exactly. I don't do well in social situations, so I'm not the most forthcoming about comments to my friends, my interests aren't always the same as theirs (even if most of them were folks I met in a particular fandom), most of what I like isn't very well-represented on LJ and thus I can't talk about what I like as much, and virtually no one on my list uses AIM very often either. Only a few people comment on my entries, whether fandom-related or not, and they're usually the same people almost every time too. And let's not even get into fandom forums/communities outside of LJ, where it's even worse for me. It's frustrating, because I see how many comments or friends they have, and I feel incompetent and sometimes unwanted. Just because I'm somewhat of a loner doesn't mean I wouldn't like to have a fair amount of good, trustworthy friends too.

Hang in there, though. If nothing else, know that you're not alone in feeling left out (as strange as that sounds).

4. Usually I don't comment on entries simply because I don't think I have anything to say on the topic. If it's a topic I'm familiar with/interested in, I try to comment. Another factor is my laziness, but that gets spread around evenly XD

Oh see, I'm fine never getting comments- I just like it when people bother to comment back to me from their entry and make that effort. But I just love meeting new people and reading entries. I believe everyone has an interesting story. :)

It's not only the individual shippers who get the crap. The relationship itself is tainted by default. It doesn't matter if the actual person shipping is rational and normal. If you get enough crap or see your friends - who are definitely not of the insane shipper variety - getting jumped on because of their shipping preferences, you tend to get sick of it. At this point it's unlikely it will ever stop.
