The Golden State Warriors just won the NBA championship, and those poor kids who fell to their deaths from the balcony in Berkeley.

I've been half-ass listening to it, but there was a murder in city not that far away from me. Basically a mother and daughter moved to the city years ago, into a habitat for humanity home, telling everyone they were Katrina refugees, I think, and scammed everyone.

The daughter pretended to be physically disabled with a need for a wheelchair and I think she pretended to be mentally disabled as well. Anyway, she and her boyfriend killed her mother and ran off to another state. They've were caught and have been charged. It's just a fucking mess.

This is my local news. I live in Springfield.

Lets see, a boat driven by a drunk lawyer cut off the arm of a teenage girl, and he's trying the best he can to avoid a lawsuit.

And there is still always a lot of talk about our Olympic bid (a horrible, horrible idea).

Ouch. Fingers crossed the Olympic bid doesn't work out. I was living in Chicago when there was talk of something like that and I was not happy about it.

Murder. Every angle our news can manage on this murder.

We've just managed to avert a government shutdown. None of the politicians came off well.

Back home: Chief of Medicine is concerned for those who don't succed in getting their "summer bodies"; Someone tried to smuggle loads of cigarettes/alcohol* from Sweden in a car and our tax return might be early this year. Oh and the shitty non-Summer weather will not end in the near future.

Where I actually live: "Norwegians traveling abroad most commonly gets diarrhea and STD's", "Found bicycle that might be stolen," and "Crown Prince Haakon opened art exhibit,"

*7000 cigarettes and 1500 litres of beer.

Like someone just found a bicycle somewhere and they're trying to find the owner?

A homeless man returned $2,000 to a police station looking for the rightful owner instead of keeping it. A local newspaper picked up the story and the reporter started an online campaign to raise money for the man. It's up to $4,500 and the police are trying to track down the man.

Also, a bear ate a family's pet goat and their other pet goat is traumatized by the loss of his ''mate of nine years.''

Two locals posed naked for a picture on a mountain in Malaysia, which a local politician claimed caused an earthquake where there were a number of fatalities. The locals have returned home, trying to dodge the media, but posted an apology on Facebook.

Jon Hamm stopped in town and got coffee at my favorite pretentious coffee place (which makes up for the fact that he had lunch at a chain restaurant.)

the most popular bar/club in my city closed suddenly and now loads of 20-somethings are upset because they can't go drink and dance there anymore

Our local beaches were overrun with tuna crabs, which look like tiny lobsters or crayfish, not crabs--the "tuna" part of the name comes from their being a favorite tuna foodsource. Supposedly they're not safe to eat for the same reason shellfish can be iffy at certain times of year, but I've never seen so many fat and happy seagulls. Also, apparently they only come this far north when it's going to be a big El Niño year. I hope so; we could use the rain.

Apparently our city's art museum acquired a portrait of Pope Benedict made out of condoms.

Everything's talking about Spokane because nothing at all is going on currently on our side of the state.
