What's something generally considered awful that you love?

Awful as in "terrible quality everything" not as in "problematic"

The movie Pompeii. Which totally is awful, but I love it anyway. Also the movie John Carter which is in no way awful and I don't get the bad reviews at all.

The Scott Pilgrim movie. It's basically about 2-3 movies squished into one and is an absolute mess. I love it.

Video game movies. Especially The Street Fighter movie, Super Mario Brothers, and the first Mortal Kombat movie(Though I'm not sure how awful that one is considered these days, the CGI certainly has not aged well.)

The first G.I.Joe movie. It was awful right down to the sinking icebergs, but I still love it.

The second one had no redeemable features, besides Storm Shadow.

Grandia Xtreme

You can see the exact moment where they figured out it was Grandia's battle system and not Grandia's ANYTHING ELSE that was selling the games, then decided to build a game around the battle system, foregoing anything unnecessary like characters, plot, animation, or tolerable voice acting

Imagine an entire game built around Lufia's Ancient Cave with the most D-list of D-list voice actors, all told to speak as much like William Shatner as possible

The music of Billy Joel.

I can analyze in great detail just how awful his songwriting habits are, from his pursuit of unearned credibility to his imitation of whatever was cool last year, but in between I will unironically enjoy the songs.

The Little Vampire movie. The one with Richard E. Grant. I'm just really, really fond of it.

Battle Beyond the Stars. Magnificent Seven IN SPACE, total 70s/80s cheese, but I have fond memories of it, and I still love the Valkyrie.

Flash Gordon. Because come on. Also, Timothy Dalton looks good as semi-evil space prince Robin Hood. (Does Flash/Barin slash fic exist, by the way?)

The Amazing Captain Nemo (1978). Largely because Jose Ferrer, but also because anyone who watched either Thunderbirds or any of a dozen bad spy series as a kid will find this movie infinitely familiar and pleasing.

Fanfic movie for The Hobbit called The Hunt for Gollum. It's a very well-done film, it's just...fanfic. Painfully fanfic. Born of Hope (same idea, only LOTR) is much the same. Then there's this film called The Pagan Queen that is along the same lines.

...thing is, I don't even LIKE fantasy. But these movies, IDEK, I keep them on in the background almost constantly.

I had fun with it

I even liked the story -- I just went into it assuming Samus was traumatized and that Adam being there just made it worse and I found it enjoyable from that angle

The Halle Berry Cat Woman film and the Dungeons and Dragons film are the first two that comes to mind. Oh and The Sorcerer's Apprentice!

What was that movie about that band of magical witch boys who attended some boarding school and had magical battles and homoerotic tension with the villain?

That was a great film. (no it wasn't an anime, it was live action, and American)

The 1998(or 99) Godzilla movie, I don't care that it's got nothing to do with the Godzilla mythos I still think it's a fun monster movie.

Both the early 2000's Fantastic Four movies, they're fun and silly.

Jurassic Park 3, it does have an anti-climatic end but I still enjoy the rest of it, the Spinosaurus is rad as fuck(even if it does piss off for basically no reason).

So many of my favorite childhood movies. Flight of the Navigator and SpaceCamp especially. So awesome.

Also, Beyond the Beyond-- a particularly cliché and super-shitty early PS1 JRPG. Oh my god it's so bad. IT'S SO BAD. Everything about it is objectively awful, but I replay it at least once a year, and I LOVE IT.

=x I really like M. Night Shyamalan movies. Lady in the Water is my favorite but I really like The Happening too. And I actually appreciated his effort on The Last Airbender even though it really needed a fun-and-silly!Aang and not a dead-inside!Aang, and same with the others. That was my main gripe about the film.
